I don’t doubt he said it. The idea that what he said holds any truth or should be accepted or even repeated as truth is what question. When this board routinely mocks any source that is questionable and even locks down threads where the truth cannot be ascertained why would we entertain someone who is clearly trying to sow discord in our American politics .
If Russian misinformation was the Bain of our election process four years ago why is this aides misinformation not regarded the same way? Oh .. I know the answer .

No. Not from Russian official discussing our politicians and political system. Just because a Putin aide said it doesn’t make it true . He ( the aide) is spreading a rumor about Trump. Until there is any evidence that what he said is true then it is just that .. a rumor.

Was weapons of mass destruction true? It came from a an American government official. I find it to be a false narrative . Without any proof it was a rumor ( although they ginned up fake proof).
Maybe some of you trust Putin boy more than I do?

You are wasting your time. They can't/won't acknowledge the difference between conspiracy and collusion.

Meanwhile, Russian TV, which doesn't do anything without Putin's OK, did a special where they aired topless and lingerie photos of Melania Trump. It's almost like Putin is daring Trump to do or say something knowing that, for whatever reason, Trump won't do a thing.

Russian state TV airs Melania Trump's nudes on prime time

So you don't understand the word 'rumor'. Got it. I understand why your statement was confusing.

A rumor lacks a defined source, spreads through word of mouth or social media, often serves only to fuel speculation, has no accountable party, and rarely has a clear record of its origin or transmission. In contrast, the aide's statement has an identifiable source, was transmitted through a state-sponsored outlet, can be directly attributed to the aide, and serves a state purpose that may or may not be clear.

Some rumors turn out to be true, while some official statements are proven false...and vice versa

    From the Cambridge dictionary

an unofficial interesting story or piece of news that might be true or invented, and quickly spreads from person to person:

What we have is a Russian official spreading a rumor about Trump. There is no backing, no evidence, no collaboration that what he says is true. His character has already been called into question on this thread
The story is pressing via social media and word of mouth.
I have zero doubt he said it. I have zero doubt he is spreading a vicious rumor in order to discredit and sow discord. I also have zero doubt that similar threads would have already been shouted down with the explanation that they are unsubstantiated rumors that are damaging to our government.

Mind blown. You even looked up the definition and still got it wrong.

You are confusing defaming official misinformation with rumor. He's not spreading the assertion, he is making it.

I kindly recommend you evaluate why you've fought this hard on this subject.
