That write up said the defense and then the entire team had to do extra lifts because of Cormani so I’m sure the older players are getting onto his ass. It doesn’t take long for you to shape up or ship out.
I agree. I was already skeptical about him coming on board, his Gator tenure is not off to a great start. Hopefully he gets it together.
John Madden loved to talk and that's what he was paid to do, I wouldn't believe half of what came out of his mouth and the other half was very obvious.
But was he a willing tackler? I never saw enough of his tackling to gauge whether he was good or not.
On the one hand, this is disappointing. On the other hand, this was, in some sense, why bringing McClain on board was always a low-risk endeavor. We don't need him. It's not like he's the starting quarterback on a team with zero depth behind him. We have some guys at corner, and McClain is a walk-on. If he keeps pulling this stuff, you can get rid of him at no real cost.
I forgot about the walk-on part. Doesn't look like he's working very hard to earn that scholarship, even though anything close to full effort would likely guarantee it.
I vote run him off before the attitude has a chance to affect team chemistry. He baited UF, then punked us in front of a national audience that he scheduled, flaunted commitment to one of our worst rivals, asked for a 2nd chance with UF, got it and now insults our team and staff with his arrogant attitude toward team commitments and responsibilities. I have no reason to think that after all this he will ever be a top contributor or leader for our team. Give him his walking papers and stop paying this ingrate
We’re just looking at this from the wrong perspective. He’s been watching film and saw our defense needed extra time in the weight room. Hes really quite the leader
Maybe I'm just optimistic but the way I see it he can either add to the team through his play or they are using him to make the team more unified if he doesn't get with the program. Making others do more reps because you're late or not a team player is one way to team build.
Teams stayed away from Deion. I am a Cowboys fan, I have seen Deion plenty to know that he will tackle when the ball comes his way. The take that Deion can't or won't tackle was made by some goof and it spread like wildfire with no actual evidence. Typical casuals make nonsense takes like that.
Hmmm...sounds like it was made by his own teammates: Deion Sanders goes all in on Tony Romo for making fun of his tackling
Deion was a great punt returner, hard worker and the greatest cover corner ever, but he hated contact. Deion rarely if ever delivered a hard hit and hated tackling RB. Generally, he would miss the tackle, get trucked while making the tackle or he would jump on their backs and hold on waiting for others. He was not very good in run support and most teams would run to his side. He played on some very talented defenses that could cover this deficiency up, but in all the years he played you will not find a hard tackle with a RB running down hill.
McClain was highly unlikely to see any significant time on the field this year. It was all about the future and the hope he would have an epiphany and get it together. If he can not even do the basics, then he will flush all that potential right down the toilet. If he gets kicked off the team, for breaking these simple rules, he will not have any future in football at all.
To be fair, most defensive backs tend to avoid a running back coming at them downhill. Heck, some linebackers will avoid them too.
