    Not necessarily specific for McCarthy, but I’ll believe him quitting when I see it. Big time politicians generally don’t leave. Look at Biden, inmate number P01135809, feinstein, RGB; all stayed longer than they should have to the detriment of their party/country. It’s actually bizarre how leaders cling to leadership roles. But if McCarthy does leave, good for him. I just wish he would have fought the crazy maga caucus early on. If he did he could hold his head a bit higher right now and might still be speaker. Instead we have new maga hero gaetz calling the shots.

    He showed what he was (not) made of when, shortly after ripping Trump on the House floor post-1/11, he went to Mar-a-Lago with his tail between his legs to demean himself by asking for Trump’s forgiveness. He’s one of the hollow men in Eliot’s poem of the same name.

    Now we have another narcissist strutting across the stage. In Gaetz we have a man who is bright, wily and utterly without principle or a moral code. But The Cult will worship him as the do that other narcissist.
