There's certainly truth to the observation that there's a lot of randomness in the tournament and it's not always the greatest way of determining who the best team in the country is. But:

A. That's true every year, and bringing it up is just whining. Our 2013-2014 team was a better regular season team than UConn, but that didn't make any of us feel better.

B. You don't get to make this argument when you lose twice to the eventual national champions. Sorry, that's the rule.

 

And on top of that, Ollie was a dirty coach. Which made it even worse. But that doesn't mean we get to change our blue banner to an orange one.

I wondered why he didn't just let it fly, but later I saw one camera angle that showed Clayton all over it. I can almost guarantee it would be a block. Play of the game. Play of the season. Sharp still should have let it fly, but the pressure of the moment got to him.
Also, kudos to all the Gators on the floor during that last Houston possession. EVERY guy covered and and defended like a madman. Haugh, Richard, and Martin took away everything on the edge, and Condo had his guy covered inside. GREAT defense.

 

I would be embarrassed. It's right up there with FSU's "hey, we would have made the Final Four if there were one" banner, and Tennessee's "We're champions at life" proclamation. That, plus $5.88, will get you a small cup of coffee at Starbucks.
