Aberdeen, on top of getting some buckets, really took care of the ball too. That shows up in team stats instead of individual stats but it was a huge key since he seemed to get a lot more time than usual initiating the offense.

 

I love reading game threads after the fact.
For example the narrative here was since they only play 5, just run them to death.
Well, they countered with ball pressure most of the game so that forced us to half court.
We adjusted well at half and stopped turning the ball over and rebounded at an elite level.

Yeah but I get why people block out 2011-2013. Those were some painful losses at the end. Mostly because at least 2/3 shouldn't have happened. I remember the Butler one I think it was, being particularly bad. Something like we got 1 FG in the last 7 minutes because the refs decided Butler absolutely HAD to stay in the game when it was about to be blown open and started calling any and I mean ANY contact on Butler as a foul but allowed them to hack away at us with impunity.

Queen is a great player but tried too much hero ball shooting threes. Not his game.

To the guy's credit, he faced an elite rebounding and defensive team.

 

I honestly cant fault the attempt tho. Maryland probably knew it was going to take something extra they hadn't shown in most games all season to beat UF. Though after a heat check or two I think was time to try something new.

 

Made the Elite 8 four straight years from 2011 to 2014 plus the Final Four in 2014. Should have at least had another Final Four the year the refs gifted it to Butler.

 

Both the Butler and Louisville losses were painful because Florida absolutely should have made the Final Four both seasons and both games they had double digit leads halfway through the second half before going ice cold down the stretch. The 2012-13 team was probably the best of the bunch talent wise but Michigan just blew us out right from the jump.

I think Maryland was flat worn out most of the 2nd half while we were not even breathing hard; we played aggressively and were able to play our style. We just went off in the 2nd half. Turnovers killed us in 1st half and we limited those in 2nd. Our defense in 2nd was really great! I'd rather play TT next game if possible but not sure it matters.
