If they give you a wide open path for a 2, take it and hope th opponent missed free throws. 20 seconds is a lot of possessions
Duke is legit, for sure, but they haven't run a gauntlet like the SEC. They have the biggest team in the land, which figures into their success, but they also haven't faced a frontcourt as good and deep as ours.
I felt exactly the same way. It was a moment that put Bama in desperation mode and showed it was our game to lose.
Nate Oats has been mentioned since the beginning of the year as maybe one of the top five coaches of the year. As they say in Missouri, show me!
Denzel and Urban both came in for relief at that time you were referring to. It seemed that the offense was in control and methodically increasing our lead. So many good backups, I feel it kept Bama confused and wondering, how many weapons do they have? LOL
A mod on the premium side was bragging how their OGT had almost as many posts as ours last game (us 19 pages them 17 pages). I just looked and we're on page 30 and they're on page 22. I guess anything can happen in one game but this is more like normal. Glad to see so many more regulars posting! Edit: What a game!
One of the funnest games ever. So many WOW moments. Matching every run so impressive. Our front court is playing like I thought they would.... NEXT year. Way ahead of schedule. Our team really knows how to turn it up in a big game.
jay Bilas kept talking Alabama in the first half, but we kept making plays. I am sure he is calling Durham today for a scouting report. Duke will probably be number one this week.
Extremely pleased with how the team hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the game, as Nate Oats being bum and extended the game required hitting FT in a leverage situation. Good in-game scenario for tournament time for both teams I suppose, and pleased that it went Florida's way.
Really great point about the bigs. Did not know what to expect from them coming into the season, especially without Handlogten. I could see Condon blowing up, but his game is so much more developed offensively than I imagined (handling, passing, shooting). Same for Haugh. And count me as someone who thought Chinyelu needed a year, but he has been a monster on the glass and scoring when he gets opportunities low. Add Handlogten, who is so much stronger now and who provides phenomenal length, rebounding, and passing, and we are light years ahead of where I thought we would be at this stage. That’s also what makes us such a tough matchup. Not many teams have the length, depth, rebounding, or rim protection we have. Then you add to that the playmaking Condon and Haugh bring out of our horn sets or our zoom/dho counters, and opposing bigs are having to play out in space and much further from the basket than they want, then having to crash the glass or shoot over much longer, stouter, active guys. It’s obviously what made our national title teams so effective.
