Mass Shooting in Baltimore...30 people shot, 2 killed

Sadly, this is just part of life in America now.

 

Yawn, just another day in Baltimore. I avoid going into the city at night

 

Oh don't worry it will eventually spread to other areas. Just give it some time

 

Another block party shooting. Hmmm

 

So somebody pissed someone else off .. so you shoot a bunch of people.
I don’t get it

 

Thoughts and prayers. Rinse and repeat.

lots of freedom
lots of guns
media: "if it bleeds it leads" = perception of a sh!thold country.

Crime statistics show society is more safe and less violent than 30 years ago.
Mortality, etc. is significantly better than 100 years ago.
But, it's easier to find stories about idiots with guns (sadly) than "Neighbor takes in two children while parent was in accident and fed and sheltered them for a few days..." though I believe (and could be wrong) that those good things happen all the time.

We see what we look for. Doesn't mean we cannot improve and shouldn't try to do so but it's so much easier to focus on the Sh!t and the hole.

 

Yawn, just another day in gun violent America. You can’t go to school, the supermarket, the work office or a party without worrying about getting your head off by some violent gun-toting lunatic. Sad.

Right now this has all the markings of someone getting disrespected and having zero respect for life. This isn’t gun culture at work. It’s a culture of anger, lack of self control, and a lack of respect for others. This culture permeates all races in different ways.

 

True - if the media only wouldn't report it, the shootings would disappear just like covid and testing.

How is this not gun culture at work? 30 people were shot with a gun.

 

When people get ran over int a car is that the car cultures problem?
Gun culture is not what certain people want to portray it as.
The vast vast majority of people who LEGALLY own guns, collect guns, enjoy guns have never had a gun issue. Those are the people involved in gun culture.
These shooting that seem to happen every weekend early in the AM a concert, block party, house party or at a funeral, church gathering etc.. is not coming from people who love guns. It almost always from people raised ina culture that has zero valve for life. A culture that glorifies violence as an answer to problems.
Those cultures permeate every single race.
It’s almost never from the people that l make guns their hobby.

 

And shot by someone with no regard for human life.

 

I haven’t made any assumptions pst what it looks like right now. We don’t have a lot of info. Based on the little we have.. this doesn’t seem to be a gun culture issue as much as it seems to be culture of violence and lack of respect of life.
When more facts come out…who and why the shooting happened my thoughts will

Thanks and I was just messin' with ya . . . sort of. There are obviously multiple ways to operationalize the term "culture" here. One of my questions is how many rounds must one pop off in order to shoot 30 people and how were they able to get that many rounds off?

Side story on gun culture: I was chatting with a neighbor on Friday and another neighbor walked by, who is teaching me how to shoot a 12 gauge I recently purchased. I mentioned to neighbor #1 that neighbor #2 was my gun instructor. Neighbor #1 is a 'Nam vet, retired sheriff's deputy, and ultra maga guy (we leave politics alone ). He carries a sidearm frequently, just working outside the house - weird to me, but he's a good guy and a good neighbor.

So he asks if I'd like to see his 50cal and one of the ARs that he built and I said "sure." He showed me all the parts, features, and bullets for each. Seemed quite proud about these and the other five ARs he owns that are not marked, because he built them all from parts purchased online. IOW - gov can't have any record/registration for them. He showed me the green dot for aiming and explained how laser pointers are not as reliable.

It got me thinking about some of the exceptional marksmanship of LEOs in Allen, TX, the Louisville bank, and the Nashville school. I'm guessing that these officers made use of that technology. Do you know if that's a likelihood? Also - the 50 cal gun was not particularly intimidating, but the bullet was freakish, with a big blunt head.
