Not trying to minimize the stats but I do wish when they list active shooter events they would break them down to gang related/ non gang related.

Do you really think those guys in wigs who wrote the Bill of Rights while loading their own muskets every 60-90 seconds would have condoned the legality of mentally ill teenagers driving their SUV’s to a mall in Texas, hopping out and squeezing off 60 rounds in 60 seconds and destroying dozens of lives in the process? Or were they really afraid the “well regulated militia” may turn on its citizenry so the citizenry needed the right to bear arms to defend itself? Do you see a difference there?

(Spoiler alert, it’s the latter, and we’ve turned the narrative as to what the right to bear arms means on its head the past 200 years).

Funny how we can condition free speech with defamation and libel laws, shrink what is deemed an unreasonable search due to technology and expanding police power, and allow our government to basically spy on private citizens under the Patriot Act. But god forbid we want a background check or a magazine capacity limit and all we effing hear is “but but but Freedom”.

Says the person literally personifying the issue with finding a solution. You didn't even have to write it. It was predicted on page 1. I refrain from hyperbole here but you literally accepted a kids death today over your gun fetish.

I believe these "active shootings" are the school/mall/clubs type shootings where there is a person or persons who are walking around killing random victims and have to be detained or shot to stop their shooting spree. So these wouldn't include gang-related type shootings.

Good grief. You post a math graph, then say it wasn’t intended to be about math, then criticize me for responding with my own math graph and say I live in a world of spreadsheets but you live in the real world? Do you even realize how silly you sound at this point?

Charles Murray, who had previously gotten in hot water about he had said regarding race, followed up with a book focused on the white working class, and essentially came to the conclusion you are articulated. You had higher income homes that mostly stayed married and did things traditionally. Among the working class, women got married less, partly because available men in that class were less likely to be reliable partners, and the result was more white working class kids without dads.

The Founding Fathers would ask "what in the hell happened to our country to get us to this?" If you answered gun sales, they would have laughed at you as they would point out we did just fine for 200+ years. Speaking of statistics, our overall gun murder rates in this country had been falling for decades until just a few years ago. There have been more guns sold during the last 50 years than any other era in American history. So if you wanna play stats, guns sales last 50 years have risen a lot. Gun murder rates are mostly lower overall during that time. Active shooting murder is a very small sliver of all gun murders in the U.S.

Only in your insular world does a graph beg a direct correlation, no matter what context said graph was posted in.

You also have to wonder what effect taking the video games where these teenagers blow away dozens of people an hour would have on their mental illness.

It is hard to resist the urge to literally hate the people that keep recycling these idiotic selfish talking points. We are getting to the point where we can’t even feel safe in society because of this shit, but we have to endure it, because asshats have to have their guns.

Acceptable deaths. Now that truly deserves a SMH. That's sad that you're reduced to posting that.

Are you suggesting that because other ways for people to die exist, we can not address gun violence? Are you also ignoring that typically when vehicles are involved in a death that it is accidental?

I take my pistol with me everywhere nowadays. I bought it 15 years ago and it's the only one I've ever owned.
