Here's the thing with the "you can join the military at 18 and handle guns so why change the age to 21" argument....

It's not like you walk into the first day of bootcamp and they handle you a rifle.

You have gone through a background check, a mental screening and cognitive testing before you even show up to boot camp.

Then there's more screening, both mentally and physically, and then after hours of training, you get to go on the range surrounded by professionals who will teach you the proper ways to handle, clean and eventually shoot the weapon.

So background checks and training PRIOR to shooting sounds good to everyone right?

A waiting period doesn't mean there's an assumption that everyone looking to buy a firearm is doing so in malice. It means that there is no certainty that a person buying a firearm is not doing so in malice. That's a substantially different take. And I don't think having a waiting period is indicative of infringement. Technically, the right is to "keep and bear" arms, not the right to acquire arms. The 6th Amendment references a right to a "speedy" trial. If quick acquisition of a firearm was equally important, it could have been added to the 2nd Amendment. Not a lawyer (obviously), but some food for thought.

It seems like the location was the target and those who got murdered was whoever was out there when he got out of his vehicle Thankfully, he got taken out before he could murder more people. There was an Asian family among the victims. He also expressed resentment at girls/women and was an incel type. He murdered them, too.

There would have to be a grand conspiracy involving the Allen Police Department, the FBI, and others to fabricate his pictures, his writings, his tattoos, and his social media posts. You think that is more probable than this man scoping out a busy location and murdering as many people as possible?

Maybe he wanted to kill non-whites and just narrowed it down to people in general on the way ?
BTW, when are they going to release the tranny murder’s manifesto ?

He planned to go where he did and when he did. I haven't read through everything to know if he explained his thinking behind the plan. He drove up there and jumped out of the vehicle and started firing. There's video of that. I think if he had taken his time, he'd have risked a lower kill count, which is something that these mass shooters care about.

I thought about that. I know if I was in the car with my two kids I wouldn’t risk them in that situation. If I was by myself I’d like to think I would have gunned it and run him down but who knows what any of us would do in the situation.

Yep. The mall shooter wore a patch with RWDS on it - acronym for Right Wing Death Squad and had huge a huge SS tattoo alongside a huge swastika tattoo and posted some right wing racist gibberish on social media. I don’t think we’re going out on a limb saying he reveled in far right ideology.

If the framers intended for there to be any sort of waiting period, they would have added that to the 2nd Amendment then. The waiting period thing is a smokescreen. If someone doesn't cool off by the time they think about buying a gun, driving to the gun store, picking it out, going through a background check there, learning how to use it, 5 days isn't going to stop them. If anything, it may just anger them more, as most people don't like jumping through hoops and if they are that heated already, a waiting period probably just pissed them off more. I'd have more faith in them coming to their senses without a waiting period, tbh.

Oh, sorry. I don’t know if the driver in the video did or didn’t have kids. I was just speaking about it hypothetically with my own since they’re in the car with me most of the time.

    From 2004 onward:

The data shows an almost immediate – and steep – rise in mass shooting deaths in the years after the assault weapons ban expired in 2004.

Breaking the data into absolute numbers, between 2004 and 2017 – the last year of our analysis – the average number of yearly deaths attributed to mass shootings was 25, compared with 5.3 during the 10-year tenure of the ban and 7.2 in the years leading up to the prohibition on assault weapons.

    Saving hundreds of lives
We calculated that the risk of a person in the U.S. dying in a mass shooting was 70% lower during the period in which the assault weapons ban was active. The proportion of overall gun homicides resulting from mass shootings was also down, with nine fewer mass-shooting-related fatalities per 10,000 shooting deaths.

Did the assault weapons ban of 1994 bring down mass shootings? Here's what the data tells us

Another business opportunity — these are not new ideas…

    Consulting + construction + taxes?

Trump last night said we have to protect the 2A, and basically signaled he has no position on gun control if brought to his desk (as President).

He suggested real estate solution (surprise) of toughening and fortifying schools. He made no mention of toughening or fortifying other public accessible places.

He also suggested 5% of teachers are weapons trained (because they are ex-military or police?) and should be armed. He also suggested more resource officers are schools.

In light that there is no solution other than arming everyone to the teeth, these are ugly, but inevitable solutions in a 2A strict country.

I for one do not like the idea of jail like fortresses for children. What Trump didn’t identify was how to pay for this infrastructure cost. I can only imagine his view is to cut other funding for services he deems not worthy.

More on whether Latinos can be virulent racists

If Vinicius Jr were to decide he wants to leave Madrid due to the regular racist abuse he suffers and the lack of support he receives, Spanish football will lose its brightest talent and it alone will be 100 per cent responsible.

It would be a huge blow for the Bernabeu club. It would be a huge disappointment for La Liga. It would be a shame for Spanish society. But nobody should blame the player given how he has been left to suffer almost alone for two years now, adding in an Instagram post on Monday that what he is experiencing “is not football, it’s inhuman”.

Because as he himself said, Sunday night “wasn’t the first time, nor the second, nor the third”.

The racist abuse targeting Vinicius Jr started well before kick-off at Valencia’s Estadio de Mestalla. As Real Madrid’s players left their team bus after arriving at the gates, a large crowd of Valencia fans gathered on the opposite side of the street chanting: “Vinicius, you’re a monkey”.

I'm sure Elon will support the shouts

The night Vinicius Jr decided enough is enough – he now doubts his Real Madrid future
