But ignoring the flawed reasoning that better individual stats = more wins, you will still get outbid.

You: $1M plus up to $5M if you get 1,000 yards rushing!
Them: How bout just take the $5M?

I’d hate to see a defensive end get paid per sack. I can think of one that may never set the edge again.

Duhhh...he was the topic of the thread. Not whatever other players you are referring to. And if they dogged it at UF, I would have exactly the same opinion.

The topic of the thread was two interceptions that he had in the Nfl. Not what kind of player he was in college. I offered an explanation as to why his play at UF might have been less than stellar after you unceremoniously maligned his college career. Obviously, the management at Arizona saw abilities in him that you with your acute level of expertise overlooked.

Let's do some simple math. Since the advent of the NFL, UF has probably conservatively enrolled perhaps 500 or more defensive backs who became scholarship athletes for the program. Out of those 500, perhaps 15-20 have made it to NFL rosters. My math reveals that 485 of the players who played for us at that position didn't even though many tried to walk onto NFL rosters as free agents.

That puts Marco in the 4% percentile of defensive backs who play or played on Sunday. Maybe your standard is 1.5%. God bless you. I am not as picky. I believe if you even get a 10-day contract in the NFL, you have done more in separating yourself athletically and talent-wise than 99% of the people on this planet. I consider that a great achievement. Try taking Vitamin B Complex and ease up on the "hate" index.

I won't accept that someone will play at anything less than full speed so he won't get hurt. That's buying into a false narrative. You actually increase your chance of being injured when you don't play all out on a field where your opponents are doing the opposite.

Correction: I accurately described his college career. You are the one that made this ridicuous post:
Wilson will never make any list of "greatest DB's" at UF. My suggestion is that if you don't want to be called out for dumb posts is don't make them.

He didn't suck, in fact he showed a lot of promise as a Freshman, but by his last year here he was mailing it in.

His college career was impacted by injuries. He tore his ACL and was lost for the season. His prospects for making the NFL were jeopardized. He managed to convince pro scouts to take a chance on him based on his displayed talent, and I think even a pathetic hater like you would be hard-pressed to dispute that it has paid off. If you want to stick to the topic of his interceptions in the most elite football league in the world, one which by your idiotic comments you are indicating he doesn't belong in, then stick to the topic.

If you want to discuss why he was not a college All-American like many who were but who never made it to the pros, perhaps you should take the time to be objective, and look at the surrounding circumstances including a serious injury that he sustained in college.

Bryce Young is going pro last time I heard. Bryce Young came to Alabama pre-NIL. Bryce Young sat out games he probably could have played in or were you simply not paying attention to that? And Bryce Young is backed up probably by another 5-star QB playing with several 5-star or high 4-star talent that can compensate for his absence or less than 100% effort.

I don’t see what is so hard to understand. He’s giving more effort now than he did at UF. He had a bad attitude at UF. He did things that cost us games at UF. But because he is successful now, we are supposed to kiss his feet? Get real, man.

You, people, need to realize that the days of plantation football are over. No one gives an f about the orange and blue or garnet and gold if you aren't talking about the green. The notion that parents are going to endorse their 17-year-old playing for a school because of its rich tradition is fool hearty.

Why would I now knowing that I can get paid playing for some obscure program that is willing to pony up the dollars, go to play for some school that likes to sing Tom Petty songs in the 4th quarter losing by 3 touchdowns?

What is sad, is that you are blaming the athletes for not wanting to be exploited. What's worse is that you are praising the remnant of fools who still play for the school because it was their dream destination as a child.

I can see why we are so far behind in the race for relevance in football and basketball. The administration has been operating with the same archaic delusions. I am glad that Napier has brought a dose of reality to a program that without him would be on the precipice of futility. He had to bring players from his program without which we would not have won the 6 meager games we did win. That says it all. Needing players from Louisiana to improve our winning capabilities.

Well, I ... didn't say that. Did you mean to reply to another person? But find me a national champion from the last that doesn't have a high volume of 5* players. They all did and do and will continue to.

Ship has sailed, largely. CFB is all about getting to the draft. You reward stats over team success and it will only get worse.
