I am no fan of little Marco but if VegasFox hates the idea I think maybe it is a good choice by Trump. At least its not Hershel Walker or some talk show crazy. There were way worse options for Trump.

I hardly think a 9 year old tweet is worthy of posting.

What Trump said about Rubio 9 years ago is true now. Rubio is a lightweight neocon warmonger

It is relevant. There is a tweet that counters everything Trump does. The comments from Marco are just as bad. Just shows how transactional these jokers are.

Senator Fetterman from PA said he would vote to confirm Rubio for SOS.

I would imagine he gets through without much problem.

I agree with this. Rubio got put back in line since the days when he would openly criticize Trump, but we don't yet know whether he will be a true loyalist. I am surprised the Trump team trusts Rubio enough to put him in this position. On the other hand, I believe Rubio voted against funding for Ukraine in the past. Maybe that was the litmus test, I dunno.

I remember when posting a 2-year-old tweet or article was taken down.

So, does he pick someone who will step aside? Or is he picking his primary opponent?

Only pushback I'd have here is his recent Ukraine position seems like pandering to MAGA fools. He's not going to want to give that to Russia, or have the US look bad or weak in any way, which is what bending the knee on Ukraine would do. It would be a far worst look than Afghanistan, IMO.

I think this is very risky for Rubio. We know he wants to run in 2028, and given history, he is unlikely to remain as SoS for more than a few years. If he leaves early—fired or quits—that’s going to crush his candidacy.

Fair point. OTOH it will keep his name on the front page and in big stories on TV.

He will probably be one of the few Trump nominees that is confirmed by the Senate with a unanimous or almost unanimous bipartisan vote. Kristi Noem for example will be confirmed with a close to straight party line vote. She may not receive a single vote from a Democratic senator.

It’s outrageous that trump is appointing someone with knowledge of the subject matter. So un-trumplike.
