Don't know if this has been posted... Arch Manning overrated because of last name, says recruiting expert.
I wouldn’t bet against him. His two uncles don’t exactly pop off the screen as athletes, very average or below I’d say but they can dang sure play qb. I’d take him before anyone else . I may be an idiot but I’d look more so if I passed in a hall of famed for “some guy.”
It would be one thing to be overrated because of your name because you skate by. Waste the resources available to you that others don’t have access to. I have to believe it is totally contrary if someone has four football family members (minimum) to mentor him. If he has taken in as much as possible, has listened as much as possible and has prepped as much as possible; got to have a leg up. May not live up to someone’s expectations but hard to say overrated today. If that makes sense. I would take him 10 out of 10 times based on perigee.
There has never been a more successful family with 3 Mannings playing QB in the NFL at a high level so I wouldn't bet against him.
Definitely a hot take but the pressure is enormous and not everybody wants to work as hard as the previous Mannings. We'll see if the kid has the talent to go along with the intensity and hard work that I believe made Archie, Peyton and Eli elite.
I don't know if he's overrated but it was down right comical watching one of his highlight videos where he looks like he's playing football against 7th graders... so who knows what's going on.
Well there is a lot of subjective analysis in the recruiting business , so who knows. I guess we'll know soon enough. Not sure if it was Peyton's junior or soph year, but I remember his being picked to be preseason 1st team SEC over Danny. I think it was his soph season before he had a chance to start a whole season. I wasn't very happy about that and thought his name got him half way there. Danny ended up having great seasons both years, but so did Peyton.
Can’t help but think that’s a pretty provocative stance to take. Pretty short article too. Just looking to rile someone up.
Kind of unfair, probably Rashada's "lowlights" would look worse with his stats. Maybe he'd really be a 4-star, but no one wants to be the idiot that said a Manning wouldn't be successful, and his knowledge around him could get him there. Key might be dealing with the pressure.
TBH, i hear his high school competition was far below average, but we have seen guys come from smaller schools tear it up. He could be overrated, or underrated...no different from any other guy at the top. I'm sure the Manning name isn't all benefits; carrying that name, that legacy, is a burden as well. I guess if he fails, there are a few other Manning boys behind him that might pick up the slack.
Of course he’s overrated. He could end up very very good and still not reach expectations (of many). I’m sure the player is good, but almost impossible to live up to that name.
“… according to Mike Ferrell, self-proclaimed godfather of recruiting.” More like stepfather. Don’t remember the last time I wasted five minutes reading one of his recruiting pieces.
I wouldn’t say overrated just yet, but his hs competition looked pretty weak so unproven is definitely a fair statement. More unproven than your average hs five star at least.
