Miami Hurricanes lead for 4-star Florida de-commit Malik Reneau Looks like no chance for Malik’s return. Was hoping Coach Golden and new Assistants would convince to re-up.
"The Miami Hurricanes is the leader projected with a 90.3 percent chance of signing Reneau according to On3.Com." That seems like an oddly specific percentage.
That's unfortunate. Too bad for the kid. I feel like he's missing out on a great opportunity to build something special with Coach Golden at UF.
I posted extensively on Kasey Hill’s strengths and weaknesses while he was still in high school. He actually had a better shot in high school than he did in college but it still wasn’t particularly good. His biggest weakness in high school was that he played the game in only one gear. He would fly to the basket at top speed and try to make a play. It didn’t work well against really good teams. Kevin Boyle would bury Kasey in the corner in tough games and would let DeMarcus Russell run the offense during Kasey’s one year at Montverde. Kasey had a pretty solid year under Donovan as a freshman but never developed after that. Why Hill kept starting at the point over Chiozza during the Mike White era remains a mystery to me as does why so many posters kept saying that Hill was better than Chiozza.
I watched the first Montverde game in the GEICO tournament, and I don’t think that Reneau would make as big an impact next season for the Gators as would Broome, if we can get Broome. I recorded and still need to watch Montverde’s other 2 games.
With Florida's coaching change and the local team just making the Elite8, can't blame this recruit from Miami to also consider the home town team.
I see nothing in that article that confirms anything other than on3.com thinks he goes to UM. There is no other attribution. I'll wait until it's over before I give up!
Funny when he was committed to Florida he was almost all world now that he signed with another team he is just all hype.
I remember that and I was with you on Chiozza even early on in his time at UF. I didn’t understand how so many people didn’t see his potential. Hill was not good.
There were at least a couple of people here that expressed reservations about his worthiness of a 5 star recruit and explained why. Not saying there isn't some truth to many others downplaying this but that sentiment did exist. I don't have a take on it because I don't really follow basketball recruiting but after our experiences with Hill, Walker and a couple others I certainly don't worry about star ratings as a sole indicator of a recruits worth.
Certainly disappointed Reneau decommitted. He's ready to play significant minutes right away and he's going to be a solid college basketball player. However, no one could ever have foreseen CC coming back and with Jitobah, Felder and Reed also in the front court, it certainly lessens the blow.
