Notable that Trump was using her preferred pronoun over 10 years ago - before misgendering people was part of the national debate (at least I don't recall that it was).

Trump's invocation of God here may at least partly reflect an expectation that DeSantis or someone else could go after Trump for being too LGBT accepting. I didn't know or forgot that Cruz attacked Trump in 2016 after Trump said Caitlyn Jenner was welcome to use the bathroom she preferred if she came to Trump Tower and made some comments about the bathroom bill debate. Cruz accused Trump of being politically correct and also made a religious argument out of it.

DeS is so arrogant. can't say this surprises me but it surprises me that his staff let him avoid returning calls to billionaire donors. everyone around him are likely scared to suggest he do something that he doesn't want to do.

Billionaire GOP Donor Says He Won’t Support DeSantis Because Florida Gov. ‘Doesn’t Even Return Phone Calls’ (msn.com)

New York billionaire John Catsimatidis won’t support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in his widely expected presidential run, he told the Washington Examiner, citing DeSantis’ poor relationship-building skills—marking the latest Republican mega donor to shy away from DeSantis, while adding to an emerging, unflattering narrative about his personability.

Catsimatidis, who supported Trump’s 2020 campaign but has also donated to DeSantis, slammed DeSantis for failing to “return phone calls,” adding that “plenty” of his Florida friends have “the same feelings.”

Catsimatidis is the latest Republican mega donor to back away from DeSantis—Ken Griffin, who publicly lauded DeSantis after his midterm election win, has grown uncertain about endorsing him for the 2024 GOP primary, the New York Times reported Tuesday, citing people close to Griffin. Catsimatidis’ rebuke of DeSantis comes days after he told Bloomberg he does not plan to endorse a Republican candidate until after the August debates, though he expressed having problems with both DeSantis and former President Donald Trump.

Billionaire and Interactive Brokers founder Thomas Peterffy also recently walked back his previous support for DeSantis, telling the Financial Times earlier this month he opposes DeSantis’ culture wars, including his support for school book bans and a six-week abortion ban.

A lot of GOP politicians in Florida said the same thing when asked why the endorsed Trump over MBR. Clearly it's some kind of issue

being blessedly far from Fla, I don't really have the pulse, but I have been reading a lot about Chy-na Ron the last 2 weeks & he seems super arrogant. Take the Florida Blueprint shit he hangs on his podium while in other states. That's straight up arrogance. &, it is very tone deaf as to what pubs in other (mostly non SE states) want. If it weren't for Bootsie, 90% of Coloradoans would've never known what woke was or what CRT was.

Juat saw a couple polls that gave Kennedy a better chance of beating Biden than DeSantis has of beating Trump…. Kennedy at 19%, DeSantis at 16%….

Putting all his eggs into the “anti wokeness” basket is killing him. I mean, if republicans just want to elect the biggest asshole, they already got Trump.

Maybe he should have announced earlier, when he had momentum. This whole WDW thing doesn’t help with limited upside.

Said it before Ron DeSantis is the new version of Scott Walker. For those who do not recall Walker was the governor of Wisconsin who won three statewide elections and was considered virtually invincible. That was until his presidential campaign imploded and he withdrew before the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary. Just a reminder.
