Election denier L. Lin Wood has requested that his law license be transferred to permanently Retired Status to avoid further disciplinary action by the the Georgia Bar.

It is stunning to me that supposedly educated people bought into the stolen election nonsense. They are paying a high price for their inexcusable stupidity.

Letting him “retire” sort of seems like being able to walk with an “honorable discharge” instead of a dishonorable one.

But I guess ultimately it accomplishes all the “disciplinary hearing” was likely to. Or was there something he avoided by going this route (other than embarrassment)? Could they have fined him?

We are on the UF board, Florida’s flagship U, where you need a 4.4 and 1350 to have even odds of acceptance…. And it’s absolutely baffling how many people here fell for this…

The university had lower standards in the past, and it's mostly the olds who fell for it. ;)

Not everyone that fell for it went to UF, a few that did probably wear Velcro shoes.

You only thought he was resigning to avoid disciplinary proceedings. You libs are wrong again! It was long planned to get away from the Masons/satanic forces! Take that!

It is baffling. It's bad enough that regular people were pulled in simply because Trump said so. Then all the 'evidence' popped up online and on Fox, and it didn't matter how each one was debunked.
But guys like Wood theoretically pursued it far enough that he should have quickly realized how bogus it all was. But he and others persisted.

Ten years ago I would have immediately dismissed this as fake. No way the president's lawyer would make a public statement like that.

Well, at least he's not talking responsibility for his own actions. He just had to get away from the Satanic secret society that runs the Georgia Bar Association, so it's really their fault.

Lin Wood has never been much. He was your basic ambulance chaser. Personal injury and medical malpractice.

He got his break with Richard Jewell who was in fact being scapegoated. Then he had almost an entire career on JonBenet Ramsey cases. He was a defamation attorney for salacious public cases and scandals. Sandmann, Rittenhouse, the McCloskeys, Herman Cain, MTG, Musk (against him), Kobe Bryant (against him.) Basically moved up to much more expensive ambulances.

He was a 9/11 Truther and Flat Earther before the Big Lie. He has never met a conspiracy he didn’t fall for entirely. Again, he just moved to much more lucrative conspiracies.

All the “respected lawyer” talk really requires parsing that word to death. Seems more like he was certainly competent in getting typically extremely wealthy parties to part with a little. $500M is a lot of dough for a person. Not much for the $9B company that settled.

Him being a nut is a consistent theme although I agree he has found a way to crank it to 11. He just has the resources to go top shelf now.
