(GOLF) M Golf SEC Tourney

Men were in 7th after round one, but the field is pretty bunched up. They had 3 solid rounds but Castillo struggled as did #5 Matthew Kress. Would expect Castillo to rebound and Kress score to be dropped.
Key is to stay in the top 8 and advance to match play.
2nd round underway, UF now tied for 5th with top ranked Vandy. Field is still pretty tight, not a lot of seperation....UF is 3 strokes out of 3rd and 5 strokes out of 11th

 

Great round going today...only player over par is our #1 Biondi. Currently in 1st place at -11 as they end the day. TAMU is -10 but they have half the course to play, so likely they will reclaim the lead. It's all about advancing, so top 8 is the key
Top ranked Vandy is in a 4 way tie for the last 3 slots at -3. Field is still very tight

 

UF got it to -12 before losing 3 strokes....TAMU at -13 and UF -9. Field still very tight

 

Wrapped the day in 3rd at 10 under, Bama and TAMU lead at 12. Good shape to advance to match play

 

Pretty lackluster day for everyone except UT who blew everyone away in round 3.
Vols(13) finish 1st, TAMU(15) 2, UF(9) 3, Vandy(1) 4, Bama(17) 5, Ole Miss(21) 6, Mizzou(43) 7, Miss St(18) 8 advance to match play, have included their ranking coming in. UGA missed the cut by one stroke.
Based on rankings UF got very lucky. Face 21st ranked Ole Miss and then the winner of 15 vs 43

 

Uf was down early but closed strong for a 4-1 win in the quarters......Dubois was demolished in the opening match but everyone responded

About halfway thru the round, been very back and forth
UF up in 3 matches by 1 stroke, TAMU up in 2 but they have a 3 stroke edge in Lin's match

 

Still tight as they are halfway thru the back 9
Kress seems to be the key match, our most inexperienced guy...he is 1 up thru 15
Dubois and Biondi are both 2 up
Lin and Castillo, our most experienced and decorated players are scuffling. Lin down 2 thru 14 and Castillo down 3 thru 13.....he has lost 4 holes of last 5

Biondi up 2 with 3 to ply should be good
Kress still up one with 1 to play...just has to halve 18
Lin and Castillo both down 2 thru 14, so much for our anchormen

Apparently Kress held on, they didn't update his match but show UF winning
Lin was down 3 with 3, Castillo down 2 with 3

Vandy will be the opponent tomorrow in the final

Dubois is a train wreck....no way he comes back. He has no swing whatsoever at the moment, too bad cause his opponent is struggling too

Biondi goes up 3, then loses next hole...2 up thru 11. This is the match to watch
Kress is dormie, all other matches 3up

 

Dubois made me eat my words....I can't describe how bad he was playing thru the turn and start of the back nine....vandy guy was winning holes w bogey it was so bad
