LSU QB Walker Howard enters the portal

LOL thanks but it doesn't change the fact that the management of the QB room is currently incredibly McElwain-ish and relying on transfers who have not performed well to date.

The only QB in the room recruited by UF from HS was Brown and he was literally committed to Mac at CMU, as well.

 

Miller ain't it. How much better was Emory in 2021 after underperforming in the bowl game against OK? People made the same excuses for him after that game, only for him to perform the same throughout 2021.

Mertz may benefit from a scheme change, so there's still some unknown element there, but Miller was already in this program and scheme for a year.

I agree about not having championship quality QBs. The Staff needs to get another transfer QB on roster asap, or push for Lagway to graduate early for fall camp or something. 3 QBs on roster simply not enough depth to be comfortable with, especially with the caliber of performance that we've seen so far.

 

100% agree!!! I know they prefer us avoiding negativity on here, but the quarterback room doesn't excite me at all!!!

Emory wasn’t coming off a thumb surgery or throwing for the first time in 4 months.

You are certainly entitled to believe how you want but that was not an apples to apples comparison.

 

Our success for the next TWO YEARS, IMO, is dependent on what we do in the portal moving forward this offseason. Truly desperate for a quality starter. Mertz and Miller don't look the part.

Wishing DelRio would've stuck around. I liked his potential a lot.

 

There’s a post spring transfer portal period 5/1 - 5/15. I’m sure there will be guys not happy with their slotted depth chart position after their spring games. We will be fine.

 

Just shocking how now no big time QBs dont want to transfer in to a decent rebuilding team without a competitive starter on the roster. If a talented QB doesn't think he can earn the start over Mertz, Miller and no one else Im missing something. Waiting until May doesn't make sense either...

 

I feel like most don't realize this here.

 

One year of success does not connote stability or even two. Nor does trying to get the right coach to restore a winning tradition constitute instability. It is a display of wisdom.
