Yes, but why come at that point? Doesn't make much sense in Howard's case to enter a battle with 4 other guys while at TCU or Ole Miss you're really only battling one guy. And in Napier's case, adding a second portal QB to make the other one you signed to be a backup doesn't make much sense. It's not like I don't understand Napier's view if he did actually tell Howard that, again, my issue is even getting Mertz to begin with. All of it is from the same people that had reported the visit w/Sale (247, On3, Rivals).
Whereas my dentist is busy performing a radical walletectomy on some poor anguished soul as we speak.
It’s a pro style offense and ranked in the top 35 with a first year QB and system. I’d like to see a QB with 2+ years in the system before saying it’s not QB friendly. Lots of play action and deep shots. What qb wouldn’t like that.
HowArd would never come with Rashada and it’s highly doubtful he was shopping all over the place without being in the portal.
Every school, including us, is using backchannels to contact players. And players are contacting other schools while playing somewhere else, the NCAA ain't doing nothing about it. How do you think we got CamRon Jackson? Or do you believe it was this huge coincidence that Edgar reported that he was transferring here before he even entered the portal and then he ultimately did?
Yes but you aren’t hearing about it. There aren’t sources discussing particulars of illegal tampering that have any validity.
Yes, you actually are. It's why you hear stuff like "Sam Hartman has entered the portal and Notre Dame is the expected landing spot". That's bascially evidence of tampering, is it not? You're only aware about this one because you're a UF fan and it's UF related, go on any other team based site (USC, LSU, Bama, UGA etc. etc.) and you'll read the same, more in-depth, stuff from insiders. This isn't a rare occurence anymore.
You mean, like we almost certainly do now? The clear difference I see between the time of the purported "outreach" by Howard and the present is that JR seems likely to have flown the coop - just as Howard is looking for a landing spot. Please explain to me again how all this reflects badly on Billy. I really don't get it.
"Don't decide to scoop up Mertz at first opportunity" I'm criticizing the guy for choosing to sign Graham Mertz, that's it. Anyone can disagree with me all they want about it, that's fine, but I'm just lost at how so many are misinterpreting this. I'm not blaming him for the Rashada mess nor am I even faulting him for being honest and reportedly telling a QB his room was full. I, AM, however, faulting him for signing the guy that caused the room to be full at the time.
My brother if Mertz is good enough to stop Walker from coming, then taking Mertz was DEFINITELY the right call. Cuz that means he’s pretty good. Your post wasn’t the hit at Napier you thought it was.
So, you've got a high four-star HS recruit who struggled in a total mess of an offense at Wisky already dead and buried. And for good measure, Billy is now a shmendrick for bringing in a physically mature, experienced guy with some decent arm talent to provide depth at a position that sorely needed it - all while we thought we had one of the best young passing talents in the '23 class firmly in the fold. Cool.
But Mertz has NO impact on Howard......Howard is simply an option because of the Reshada mess. UF had to have a veteran QB ready to play. The staff loves Mertz and jumped on him. You can argue you like other vet guys more than Mertz, the staff will disagree. But you can't argue Mertz vs Howard....they are not tied together
