Another poster mentioned a waiver so could still be ok getting into classes in late January.

Kyle Morris was the other QB involved and a starter. Morris transferred to Mississippi College and Matthews was cleared by the NCAA to return.
Two walk ons were involved… Brady Ackerman and G.A. Mangus

Shane was involved and admitted to placing small bets, but the University petitioned the NCAA to have him reinstated (actually they petitioned to have both reinstated). Matthews was reinstated, Kyle Morris left.

Matthews and Morris were BOTH reinstated. Shane beat Kyle out for the starting job in 1990. Morris was the backup QB that year and transferred following the 1990 season.

 

Thank you for the correction, I knew that UF had applied to have them both reinstated, but 1990 was a long time ago. I should have researched it.

 

I can't really hold it against him that he needed to move to play. I realize it was inconsistent but against our D Daniels looked like what we thought AR would be.

If you want to read about the problems with Gator athletics at the time. The article also implies or infers that Brady Ackerman was someone potentially kicked off the UF team for gambling with Shane and Kim Morris. Vernon testified under oath he received $1000 dollars a month from UF basketball coaches. Galen Hall admitted to paying volunteer coaches salaries for two years in violation of NCAA bylaws. Not a good look for Gator athletics at the time.

 

Doug Johnson is the gator quarterback who actually played pro ball during his tenure much to Spurrier's dismay.

Therefore, if they end up a Gator they won't be able to enroll or practice until Summer A?

 

Unless they get an enrollment exemption that let's them in this week. The answer is summer A.

 

Do we know if either are even considering an option where they can't enroll until Summer A?
