I don't understand the "don't change anything" plan, if they had done that with the defense at mid-season this team wins 4 games. The Defense is in gear, lets get an OC and get that Offense rolling.
Agree 100%. Love that we run the ball and have success. However, as I posted in another thread the play calling isn't good. Let Billy focus on being a head coach and program head and get someone who has an offensive mind.
1st play of the 2nd half was a hand off to MJ. OL played poorly, loss on the play 2nd play is a pass to MB. Gain of 10. 3rd and 9 QB tries to pass, gets sacked. 6 man rush on an obvious passing play PYTHON- what do you call differently?
I've been very vocal about not liking the offensive scheme, don't think a different playcaller will make much of a difference.
"When play doesn't work it doesn't work." Great analysis here. Now do the ones where the defense is held by the fake and we get a big play.
Did that happen last game? I think Lagway did that in a previous game, but it was on first or second down. It certainly wasn’t on 3rd and 10 plus. Running play action on obvious passing downs makes sense to you?
When I read "horrible play calling" I usually think "you could probably guess 10 times and still not name the play call."
Florida is worse than every single success rate category in 2024 than they were 2023… They are 65th in the country in overall rate 91st in explosiveness 97th on passing downs And we are 85th on havoc plays, which is interceptions, penalties, fumbles And 81st in passing success rate Billy has never been over 80th in passing success rate at any place he’s coached 2019 Louisiana his offense was 5th but largely because of the run. For context Indiana Army Miami Penn state and Oregon are the top 5 in success rate. If that gives you any idea of importance of those statistics. And yes(but they play a weaker schedule)…All the more reason you need a diverse and explosive offense not one that relies on hero plays on 3rd down
Cool story bro but at least give us the numbers for the back end of the season because playing a third string QB is detrimental to stats.
why get an OC? Napier is still going to call the plays. Lagway loves him. The offense has done good things with the top 2 WRs out. I don't think Lagway or Napier would be open to this
I would agree, but certain coaches have a knack or awareness of how the flow of the game is going. I think Napier needs a little help there, and more mid range passing scheme help.
We might have also lead the nation in near passing touchdowns. Those are passing plays that end inside the 5 yard line. DJ might of had 20 TDs if some of those plays don’t get stopped at the 1.
Napier runs a style of offense that is heavily dependent on the run game, and that wants to attack vertically off of it. Tough offense to run when you are not particularly good up front. In my opinion the offensive line dramatically improved, and started showing some physicality. Napier wants to control the game, play field position and defense. It’s a winning brand of Football when you have the dudes for it. Alabama built an entire dynasty on this style. You watch Florida play right now and it just looks different. I haven’t seen it look like this since Meyer. Florida looks big, strong, and athletic on the field. I don’t think Florida needs to change a thing right now, most of this team returns next year, it’s time to build with what has been started.
