From the conservatives here, there's an attempt to endorse a specific religion and distribute... I'm gonna call it religious propaganda (even though it's not exactly)... through public schools.
From the liberals, their "baby steps" seem to rather benign things like teaching kids to be tolerant/accepting of people who are different. Oh, the horror...

By no means do I question their right to do so. I just question why they feel the need to do so.

 

This standard you're advocating for is inconsistent with how we interpret both of the religious clauses in the First Amendment. I suspect that while you might be happy overturning most of the law pertaining to the Establishment Clause, you wouldn't be so happy with us giving the Free Exercise Clause the same narrow treatment.

If you truly don’t know the difference, let’s help you out here. Neither of your examples were the govt mandating anything at all, let alone mandating anything religious. Both the public library and Disney chose to do whatever events you are referring to.

On the other hand the state of Louisiana, a state govt, is mandating religious displays in all classrooms.

 

I had them in my classroom at St. Ann's elementary school. NOT at the public school my parents eventually put me in and that is how it should be.

 

There is a yard flag that says this and it is nothing but a positive message.

Why is everyone so bothered by a relic of the Jewish faith, that is echoed to an extent by the Muslim faith and the Christian faith? As long as it isnt forced on anyone. (Which in this case I disagree with.)

 

So just to confirm, you'd be ok with this on the wall of a public classroom right? I mean they might just read them and think more deeply about the way they treat others.

 

Why would anyone be afraid of God stuff ? Schools are at the forefront of turning little boys into little girls. Not even God can do that.

 

That's exactly what they are trying to avoid, children thinking about messages like that and contemplating how they treat others. That's antithetical to their traditional values. They don't want thoughtful children that respect others and they certainly don't want women thinking they are equal and have rights or that black lives matter.
