If you really think a name matters the Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea must also be a democratic republic or check for the last time an election was held in North Korea with multiple candidates. You can also tell that to the North Koreans being held in Kim's reeducation camps. The US is a Constitutional Republic based on democratically elected representation. You can educate yourself by reading Article 1, Section 2 of the US Constitution as well as the 14th and 17th Amendments of the Constitution.

They leave out the words, “democratic” or “democracy” in describing this country because the right to elect representatives only applies if their chosen candidates win. That’s why they erect barriers to voting in areas and for people they don’t like.
