Are headed for human testing, as if the planet isn't over populated enough, imagine living to be 200. I think that may be closer than many of us realize

Scientists are working on a drug that lets you live for 200 years (msn.com)

The drug, taken in pill form, works by eliminating cells that contribute to the ageing process in the human body, thus potentially doubling our lifespan.

Human ageing is hurried along by cells called ‘zombie cells’, scientifically known as senescent cells. These cells stop dividing over our lifespan, accumulate inside our bodies, and eventually release compounds that speed up ageing.

The drug has been tested on mice in a 2020 trial and the result was improved physical function and extended health and lifespan. Scientists are now working on replicating the result in humans.
    ........................
‘I can’t see a physical or biological reason why people couldn’t live to 200 — the challenge is whether we can develop the biomedical science to make it possible.’

‘Studies come out every few years that propose some kind of fundamental limit on human lifespan, but they’re always missing one crucial piece: we’ve never tried treating the ageing process before,’ The pills are reportedly already in the human trial stage and could very well hit the market within the next ten years.

Imagine the savings one would need to be financially secure. Or I guess most people might just have to work until the age of 175.

It’s difficult to know how this would play out, but based on what we now know, I doubt it would be beneficial for our species. It may be moot anyway given what we’re doing to our planet.

Longevity pills - Are You Kidding Me?
In this hellish human constructed and ruined world?

What for? To watch the extinction of most animals and the human race?

To eat your neighbor when the food and water runs out?

NO THANK YOU - I would appreciate a couple of cyanide capsules however.

The worst people in the world buying another 120 years to domineer over the rest. They should simultaneously develop the opposite treatment for the rest of us, and distribute it for free, so we don’t have to wrestle with the morality of suicide to get out of the douche canoe.

Once you have your stuff paid off all you need is money to live on which isn’t much. I imagine hiking the world for 100 years. Sounds alright to me.

At the risk of being a cynic, if we're all living to be 200 what would be left to hike?

I would say that the 1% can't afford to not give it out for free. Its expensive replacing your most experienced sla--workers.

Eh, if it slowed aging I'd rather live 90 years as a relative 40 to 50 year old and then go get euthanized. I might be down for a Logans Run life with euthanasia at 90 or 100 instead of 30 if I was healthy and active the whole time.

Might this new extended lifespan therapy allow Trump to run for President another 10-15x?
