Yep....and getting a chance for young players to develop. Always liked the game where a lot of backups got action

Now if we can get the SEC to break up the 4 game gauntlet before FSU finale with an open date or lesser opponent: you know, like every other team in the league gets.

It's an inferior product. It's like paying for Ruth Chris and getting McDonalds. How do you even cheer watching them beat up on third rate players?

It's college football. All the big boys have cupcake games. I cheer the same way I always do. I usually get tickets to these games at a steep discount too, so it's like paying for what I get.

Sounds like old New York money for sure...they had very wealthy founders.
In 1951, in response to the growing number of families moving to the suburbs, LIU purchased an 177-acre (72 ha) estate known as Hillwood from cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and her third husband Joseph E. Davies.[8] Located in Brookville on Long Island's Gold Coast, the original home, Warburton Hall, was built by William A. Prime and was extensively renovated by Marjorie and her second husband Edward F. Hutton. Three years later, the campus was renamed C. W. Post, in honor of Marjorie Post's father C. W. Post, a pioneering food entrepreneur.

I didn't read the OP carefully enough. I get it now.
We wanted an opening game cupcake and FAMU couldn't move due to a previously scheduled game.
So we dropped FAMU and added these guys. This way we avoid an SEC game that weekend.

That makes sense. We will have Miami but we don't open with them at least.

I'm coming from a season ticket holder perspective but, even if the tickets were cheaper, it's an inferior, non-competitive (Georgia Southern notwithstanding) event.

It evens out for them too. The face value on games for these tickets is lower than the marquee games. While there may be an additional discount on the secondary market for these games, marquee games can be several times over face value. The season ticket holders are getting what they’ve paid for. If you want an NFL schedule, buy NFL tickets.

It’s a cupcake game. Yes, it’s expected to be less competitive. All the p5 teams play them. Most of the big boys play more than we do. Who else is playing 3 p5 OOC games this year?

It's bad enough when we schedule directional schools, but this one almost sounds like a joke. Never heard of it and just reading the name sounds fake.

    Sigh

The school name is very new - last few years (2019). Used to be CW Post then LIU post. Not sure where the Brooklyn part came from - that's not part of their name. They beat Duquesne 2 years ago - who FSU opened with the same year. I wish we would've opened with an easier game the past few years. Utah and Miami are fine when we're settled, but that was not really the case for the past 2 seasons - we could've used a tune up game then.

They are pretty bad, 0-8 vs the FBS since moving up from D2, schools like Kent St and Miami OH schedule them as a cupcake

You do realize we didn’t have a lot of time to fill this spot in the schedule. Right? They pulled out. Not us. And if it’s “bad enough” when we schedule “directional schools”, whatever that is, that most teams at our station have 3-4 of those games, right?

Then you should know this game will be a cheap ticket while Texas, FSU, UT will be 4 or 5 times face what this one costs.
And spare me the booster fee aspect...cupcakes have been a part of everyone's schedule for decades. And I've listened to the screaming about how we got screwed with this awful tough schedule for a year, and next year is brutal too. You'll survive one game

The booster fee is your contribution to the school and has nothing to do with who we play.

You’re welcome to take your chances on the secondary market though if you don’t want to pay booster fees. My guess is you’d come out the same or worse over the course of the season if you bought tickets for every game. Assuming you’re not club level, and that’s a luxury you’re paying extra for all in itself. You’d also have different seats every week, less access to parking passes. All that stuff. You get what you get.

Again, every team at this level has cupcake games. We generally play less cupcakes than ga and bammer do.

I don’t. That does not make what I’m saying less relevant.

It also doesn’t change the schedule.

I said I was posting from the perspective of a season ticket holder. That wouldn't apply to you. If you don't spend the money, you're not going to feel ripped off.

I’m saying your qualifier is ridiculous. Everybody plays these games. It’s part of college football. It’s good for the teams to have these games. Gets young guys experience, gets older guys confidence. Gives the team a chance to work on stuff against someone other than themselves.

Gets the cupcake team a big chunk of cash for their athletic dept. A chance for their guys to make a big play or possibly even get a win against a big team.

    It’s college football man.
