I'm sure that Joe Biden knew that his son was on the board of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company. Beyond that he probably had no idea of exactly what Hunter's duties were in that capacity.

Nope. Because the next logical question after the FD-1023 form was taken is "what did you do to follow up or investigate the allegations?" and clearly retrieving or at least requesting the tapes would have been a logical follow-up step. If the FBI didn't ask for the tapes, then it would be a lot easier for Republicans to claim they buried the investigation from the outset. Especially when they note the source's credibility on the FD-1023 form.

....and yet...the FBI somehow found it not only warranted, but apparently appropriate, to redact mention of the recordings.

    Why?

    Wasn't committing them to anything.

Alas, but it would serve to disclose the existence of something.

...which oughtn't matter a damn, if it didn't exist, or if they didn't know if it existed..

Which makes the whistleblower's claim seemingly carry a shit ton more weight than had they just come clean with the form.

I mean...look at all the nefarious inferences drawn against Trump for withholding docs...

    Criminal indictment even!

So, Joe Biden was running point on Ukraine under Obama. Fact. Which means he was very involved with US policy towards Ukraine and had intimate details of goings on in Ukraine 99.9% of the U.S. government did not have. Fact. Joe Biden bragged about the withholding of $1 billion in aid from Ukraine until they fired a prosecutor. Fact. Said prosecutor happened to be investigating corruption at a company (Burisma) his son was on the board of. Fact. Generally speaking, a Vice President has to be very aware of what his direct family members are doing for work to avoid trouble with conflict of interest laws. Fact. But Joe had no idea what Hunter's duties were at the company that was being investigated by the prosecutor he ordered Ukraine to fire while serving as Obama's point on Ukraine as VP?

And I'm part of a cult?

Keep in mind that the interview contained in the FD-1023 took place in June 2020 when Trump was the president. Are you suggesting that Christopher Wray, a Trump appointee, and Bill Barr, Trump's AG were trying to keep relevant information from Congress also keeping in mind that at the time Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House and every House Committee was chaired by a Democrat. Maybe the real reason that information on the FD-1023 wasn't disclosed to Congress at the time was simply because the FBI didn't consider it credible. Maybe the agency actually tried to confirm the unverified information contained in the form and failed to do so. Insofar as the recording are concerned if they exist it's very likely that they were reviewed by forensic experts at the FBI who determined that they couldn't be considered reliable.

Im sorry, Im unfamiliar with this case, so I’m not sure I’m following anymore.

We know the tapes exist because it would have seemed like burying the investigation if the DOJ didn’t look for them?

You are aware that the prosecutor, Viktor Shokin was considered corrupt and that the EU and the IMF demanded his ouster as a condition of providing aid to Ukraine, it wasn't just Joe Biden.

Point of order, said prosecutor was being removed because he was not investigating corruption at Burisma. He was supposed to be investigating Burisma, but was choosing to not carry out that task. That corruption in their government is why the international community was avoiding investment, including the US withholding $1 billion in aid, in Ukraine during this time.

Read the indictment, sport. There were zero "nefarious inferences".
" "But according to a senior law enforcement official who spoke with NBC News, the accusations contained in the FD-1023 were reviewed by the FBI and a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney when the report was first made in June 2020, and the claims were deemed unsubstantiated."
Comer and Jordan et al, simply are fishing and spreading crap to deflect. The FBI and Trump-appointed U.S. attorney already closed it out 3 years ago. How convenient Comer's witnesses are dead or missing.

It's so obviously nothing at the 50,000 foot level. It's just gossip, but no money ever transferred and no policy ever changed. We can see the policy and we have the financial disclosures. It's just so absurd to get bogged down in this, but it never stops them

The alleged tapes in the FD-1023 allegedly come from Rudy Guiliani, who got them from Viktor Shokin, who is the Ukrainian AG that Biden got fired. And as stated, it was stated US policy at the time to clean out corruption in Ukraine, backed by all EU countries as well. Legally, Biden was able to withhold signing off on the money because the money was coming as a loan from the World Bank, and Biden's signature was as co-signer. This wasn't money coming from a Congressional Bill, so the Impoundment Control Act did not apply like it did when Trump withheld monies from Ukraine. And Shokin was removed because he was NOT investigating Burisma, not because he was going to. He did investigate Burisma back in 2012 and found nothing wrong; likely taking bribes to avoid brining any charges. Hunter was later added to the Burisma's Board in 2015. If anything, firing Shokin would increase the likelihood of a Burisma investigation, not decrease it.

The deflection that Biden, Hillary, et. al. are guilty and there's a double standard doesn't change the facts in the Trump case. And when you look at all the facts in all cases, it's difficult to really claim a double standard. If a tape of Biden taking bribes from Ukraine actually exists, then there should be an investigation. But it's in question whether or not a tape actually does exist, especially considering the sources. We do know the evidence, in general against Trump. It's laid out in the indictment.

That's one part of it, but the main logical conclusion would be if the tapes did not exist, the FBI would just say the tapes don't exist or at least if they possibly exist, state that and clarify that the agency doesn't have them.

What if the FBI didn't know if the tapes existed or not? This is apparently 3rd hand information that the FBI put on the FD-1023 report. Some guy told some guy who told the FBI that the Bidens bribed someone for $5 million each and said he has recordings ... if that's all the FBI was told, that's all they write down.

Could be true, could be someone trying to sound important and influential and making shit up...

This isn't true. Shokin was still investigating Burisma when he got fired. The guy (Yuri Lutsenko) who Biden replaced him with quickly ended the investigation and of course exonerated Hunter at the time. Problem is Lutsenko flew to New York 3 years later to meet with Giuliani and produced a bunch of evidence that showed the Biden bribery scheme. As did Shokin. It wasn't all Shokin. The guy who Biden replaced Shokin with flipped on him as well. Ukraine is a vast sea of corruption. It was one of the worst places a vice president's son could ever choose to work in as a corporate board member.

In any case, if you choose to ignore the facts and Biden's long history of lies, you're no less a threat to our democracy than the "Trump cult."

Then just tell Congress that. "We don't have the tapes." Seems pretty simple to me.
