(SB) OGT: Sun Devil/GCU Classic February 21-23 in Tempe/Phoenix, Arizona

I am driving up to Phoenix tomorrow morning to see our beloved Gator softball team. I am excited. I was prepared to submit a written play by play for all 5 of the games at the end of each game. But I see that 2 of the games are televised and the rest will be on the radio, so I see no need - unless someone can come up with a reason. Go Gators!!

 

All 5 games are available on radio real time. My PBP would be posted on Diamond Gators at the end of each day. Do you think anyone would be interested by then?

 

OK, you've convinced me. I appreciated the PBPers for the Fall schedule games. This is an opportunity to give back.

 

California Baptist, our first opponent today, is 5-7. They have wins against Southern U, Lehigh, Army, San Diego & Utah State. Their losses were to Oklahoma, Nevada, U-C Riverside, San Diego (2), Utah State & Hawaii. Team BA is .265, 8 HR, 27 BB, 38 K's, 5-10 SB. Their best hitter is Grad Sr. Kalena Burns, 1b/DP, hitting .353 with 5 HR. Team ERA is 3.51, 34 BB, 51 K's, .306 BA against. Fielding is at .977.

This afternoon's opponent, Arizona State, is 7-4. They have wins against Maryland, Miami (OH), ranked California, ranked Oregon, Weber State, ranked Washington and Utah Valley. Their losses were to Miami (OH), North Dakota, Belmont and Grand Canyon. Team BA is .304, 14 HR, 27 BB, 45 K's, 7-14 SB. They have 6 players hitting over .300, the best is Grad Sr. OF Kelsey Hall, hitting .444. Team ERA is 3.46, 17 BB, 70 K's, .235 BA against. Fielding is at .342.

Kendra Falby leads off for the Gators takes a 3-2 pitch down the 3rd base line and beats it out for a single.

 

Falby steals 2nd on a 1-1 pitch to Taylor Shumaker.

 

Taylor singles down the left field line, then takes 2nd on the throw to the infield. Falby holds at 3rd.

 

Korbe Otis doubles to left field on a 3-2 count, 2 RBI.
