I'm going to watch the replay and try to see where the judges saw .150 deduction on Baumann's floor routine

 

We all want the team to hit 198 in every meet. But I'm actually feeling less anxiety this season with the team building on each meet compared to the last few seasons fearing that they were peaking too soon...

 

Arkansas looked outclassed from the first rotation. Impressive performance from the ladies tonight.

 

I watched Baumann's floor routine again. She's only doing 2 passes right now instead of 3, which is legal and there's no reduction in start value (less wear-n-tear on the body). I am no expert but her landings were perfect, feet did not slide, she was in complete control.. The commentators thought the same thing. I'm going to listen to a couple of college gymnastics podcasts on Tuesday. "All Things Gymnastics" and "GymCastic" are 2 good ones and they review and critique all the major meets each week.

 

Please update this thread when you see something. I realized Alyssa only did 2 passes but didn't think that would be a deduction. It's like the judges hit her with 2 tenths deduction for not doing 3 passes.

Jenny Rowland needs to follow up on this. It's like one judge agreed and the other wouldn't change from 9.75, 9.75 and 9.95. If not doing a 3rd pass is what happened, put it in and get used to it.

 

The change was due to clarification of the start value. She did a combination that should have made the start value a 10. Once they explained it to the judges, they adjusted the score.

 

The scores last night were pretty high. Also remember that this was Arkansas' first meet after a week off for COVID.

 

If I wasn't ticked off enough about the floor judges, this does it. There is no way Alyssa had .15 worth of deductions in her performance let alone a start value of 9.90. Something is screwy with the judging.
