How do you even combat that legally, effectively? If those guys legitimately have that name and filed the proper items on time to run, what recourse exists for what pretty clearly looks like malfeasance?
Only run candidates with really unique names or names no one would want to change their name to. I give you: Osama M. Hitler for Governor. (the M stands for Mussolini)
In Fargo, they actually paid guys to change their names and imitate Roy Tillman. It was funny In retaliation for Tillman blocking Lorraine’s bank purchase, Graves recruits three debtors to legally change their names to Roy Tillman and mock the real Tillman at a debate on the campaign trail. This prank leads to Tillman losing his temper in public and jeopardizing his re-election campaign. https://screenrant.com/fargo-season...locking,jeopardizing his re-election campaign.
The real answer to this question is to change the law in the state so candidates cant "self-identify" their party. Cant stop people with similar names running, but can clear some of the confusion by having different labels by the names.
