the annoucers mad a big deal about how Robbins can draw fouls, but it seemed to me that he could/should have been called for a lot of fouls. He pushed off a lot when he had the ball and made contact when playing D. Pippins had the same rep when he was there and he hooked or pushed off a lot when he had the ball. I guess if you have a rep of drawing fouls, they ignore a lot of your fouls.
I agree. He does it obviously some times, sneakily at others. I still don't see how they called a foul on Shimmy when Robbins initiated the contact and bulled right through him all the way to the hoop. What's our guy supposed to do, step aside?
Exactly! I saw multiple bumps, on multiple possessions, like bump-bump-bump-bump-shot . . . where Robbins initiated the contact on every bump and lowered his shoulder a little on at least half of them. That's an offensive foul if he moves the defender, which he obviously did. If he's not getting called, his coach will have him keep doing it. I think the SEC refs are terrible in all sports. They make up their mind JJ can't have made a play without fouling so . . . "Tweet!" CC got away with some because of his well-earned reputation but not nearly as many as Robbins. They don't know about the German Sniper yet so he gets called. But I agree @GatorPlanet.
It would be interesting to see basketball with no fouls...just full contact. Officials only need to call the out of bounds and eye and groin gouging. There would be a lot less complaints about officiating that way.
You mean the game when I was coming up in the 1970s. Are throwing elbows (the right way) allowed in this version? LOL!
Sure make it a bloodsport anything goes...career expectancy would be 3 to 4 games but the fans would love it. Fair to say it might be more of a challenge to score a basket so maybe we could get rid of the shot clock as well. Maybe we could restrict contact in the back court only allowed in the front court?
