Impecable logic sir, I was going to add, outscoring the opponent but I find this just as satisfactory!

    Skink,

Utah has been "Beat to Death" - at the end of the day here is something to consider:

Utah coach is what, on his 17th consecutive year (or is it 19th?).
My point is, they have a system, they recruit for it, it works, they are familiar with it and they excel at it.

We played them at their place.

UF played with with a huge roster turnover and much youth.
more than 1/2 the roster never even played in the Napier system.

On he road, against an experienced program whom their coach said was the best roster in his time at Utah.

Is it so odd for people to grasp that UF did not execute as well as Utah under those circumstances?

I find it BIZARRE that pundits including Finebaum are shouting that "coaches can win right out of the gate".

Of course the "prime" example is Sanders.
Uhhhh - How many "Sanders types, replete with an NFL ready QB" are floating around?

    Answer - Only 1
I would also add, Coloradfo is 2 - 0, NOT 12 - 0. A little early to crown their season as the greatest story in college football.
Great start..........yes. I do know this, prime keeps running that mouth he will be creating a huge bulls-eye on his teams back.
I look forward to them playing a defense with a pulse.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics. Anyone who chooses some statistics while ignoring others, is simply bending the numbers to match their narrative. The game one sacks and untimely penalties had a direct impact on our passing numbers. For that matter, the lack of running production did as well. It is all intertwined. The truth is, some never miss a moment to cherry pick stats in an effort to spout an opinion which is only supported using confirmation bias evidence. Of everything that has improved, why would a real fan focus on such myopic things?

    GO GATORS!

Well I agree, it's why college football is great game (despite concerted efforts to destroy it).

25 positions that must work at some level of harmony and efficiency to win.

So yeah, one cannot cherry pick a certain set of statistics, to make "points" while ignoring others.

We all do it of course because we wish to justify our personal favorite teams successes and to explain away the failures.

In the end, only one thing matters for the fan - WIN. Just like Skink posted.

Football is interesting on many levels. While I tend to follow the herd when rationalizing these games, how many fans really know what they are talking about when only looking at it on game day and in terms of wins and losses?

I went to UF and the Gators rubbed off on me and I look forward to following them.

But the way the media works with its shockingly short media cycle emphasis is, here today gone tomorrow. Let Colorado lose a couple and watch that media love flame out real quick.

That's why I support Napier, I like his vision and approach. His vision may not be realized for a few years. I can live with that.

An immediate injection of Sanders like heroin may or may not be the answer for UF, I prefer Billys long game and building this thing up with recruiting, we shall see how it works out.

About half, or 60%, of analytics guys failed statistics class. The other 55% did not attend college. 45% of them think 2 games is a proper sample size. 150% of morons compare the current season stats with the previous year.

That's the problem for us, we not only have to deal with the Prime time effect, but we have to deal with POS prognosticators like Finebaum talking crap about the Gators becasue we own his sorry azz school. He spreads more hate and lies knowing that when we sign this next class, Napier will turn the corner on recruiting and the Gators will be much harder to beat.

The talking heads (Finebaum being one of the main ones), it seems, have all been given their marching orders to discredit Napier and the Gators in every which way possible... then they all try and project their lies onto the fans... as if there is some sort of great majority of fans that are dissatisfied with Napier and the direction of our football program. There is a small group of clowns that might be upset with where we are after just one year, but to say it's a majority would be disingenuous.

They're trying to sabotage our recruiting class as well.

It’s the reason I refuse to pull for any of these SEC teams. SEC SEC SEC my butt. They hate us and will screw us any chance they get. It’s been demonstrated too many times

I will NEVER get over the screwing UF got in the 80's, they (The SEC Cabal) damn near got us the death sentence. 1990 was total B.S.!!!!!! I will ALWAYS agree with SOS and count that as an SEC championship year.

I know I will get 100 come on mans and dislikes but personally I wish UF would get with Clemson, UCF, Miami, FSU, USF, Ga Tech, N Carolina, Duke, NC State Va Tech, UVA or some such combination, to form it's own league and tell the SEC, Alabama, UT and UGA to Kiss our (U no what).

UF emerged as the pre-imminent program of the SEC in the 90's in almost every sport. In terms of value, outside of Texas, I know of no other University in the SEC that has had the financial, sports and academic success of UF.

Nothing would make me more happy than pissing off the redneck clown show housed in Birmingham, Nashville and Atlanta and I assure you such a move would have monumental consequences for the SEC.

We played a HS team. I’ll obviously include Tennessee. Good or bad.

Mertz has a long track record. A A+ or F Tennessee game will barely move the needle on Mertz. Of course I want Mertz to have a Heisman level year, it’s good for the Gators. AR was a top 5 pick, his success is etched in stone whether you decide to ignore it or not. But I would absolutely love if Mertz did a total historical 180 and became the highest drafted UF QB ever.

But we should live in the data not in our dreams.

    I use advanced stats. It’s 2023, not 1990.

Yes we had a bad game 1. The beauty of just one game is it only becomes 50% of the sample after game 2. And even lower if you exponentially weight it.

If you've got more advanced stats that a PhD in statistics produced . . . then please enlighten us. I'll pass them along.

EVERY team has its weaker opponents included in both wins-losses and team stats. I must have missed the asterisk by UcheaT stats for playing Austin Peay.

Just a general observation about a lot of posters here . . . something I'm reminded of that I heard a long time ago applied to faith . . . "For those willing to believe, no more evidence is necessary. For the others, no more evidence will ever be enough."
