Yeah just 2 different definitions it seems. Don’t think you would say McElwain was great by year 1 or 2 getting to the SEC Championship game both years (15 & 16) or Mullen in year 3 (2020). Great was proven in year 6 and stamped with perennial powerhouse in year 7 in my opinion for Kirby.
Never in my life have I seen anything fixed by burying heads in the sand nor is it the writers or beat reports job to fix the program.
Don't disagree with you much, but you're not offering the athletes much of anything. What obligation do the schools have to the athletes if you want to limit their options?
I didn’t say it was the beat writers job to fix the program, nor did I say to bury your head in the sand. I said continuing to add to the negativity isn’t helping anything. If you have the means to get changes made, then by all means make the changes you think need to be made. Just sitting here bitching isn’t fixing anything. Do you really think the administration needs you to tell them we’re losing games? Do you honestly think that the folks who really fund and actually run this program don’t want to win at the highest level? They need you to tell them when things aren’t going your way and continuously circulate every minute negative detail you can dig up? You really think that helps us lure recruits, keep players, and lure the best staff?
What is with all the "you" crap, I'm not Nick de la Torre. Also, why the temper tantrum, having a bad day? I'm sure blaming it on random people on the internet, rather than tackle the root cause, will fix it.
When did I say anything about Nick de la Torre? Is that gatorzillas true identity? I’m not throwing a tantrum. I didn’t even blame anyone for anything. My day is going fine, but you seem kinda salty. I asked how does bitching help anything? How does being constantly negative help anything? Explain to me how that helps get us going in the right direction?
Was this not you in response to a post with a Torre tweet? The bolded reads like a petulant child: Now that I have quoted your posts, I would love for you to quote the post of mine where I said bitching or negativity solves anything.
The first post was not in response to de la torre, it was in response to the guy who reposts every single article, video, blog, twitter post, etc that he can find. I don’t understand why so many folks like to keep all this negativity in circulation. You’re under no obligation to circulate this garbage. What does it help to do so? The post of mine that started this dialogue was not even referencing the de la torre post at all. It was to another poster who only makes negative posts. That’s it. It said “do something to help in a positive way. Don’t actively try to make it worse”. What’s your beef with that? That conversation had to do mainly with people being constantly negative, and me trying to figure out how it helps anything. How was I not to assume that’s what you wanted to talk about since that’s what you quoted? It had nothing to do with the de la torre post that you’re referencing now.
It's a shame that free tuition and a guaranteed admission (regardless of grades and scores, almost) to a prestigious university with free room, food and books seems like nothing to most people. But the NIL does indeed help many student athletes. How many generations of student athletes got nothing more than that (without the NIL) helped to build their university athletic system to the point where even woman get free athletic scholarships to play sports like men in their own woman's sports. At some point I would rather see semi-pro athletes play off campuses than to see colleges and universities make football players employees. Right now it's the football players that, if not for football, would never even see the inside of a prestigious university classroom. And that classroom later in life is giving them a huge lift in life... It's a huge life changer, by simply being able to take the courses in these colleges.... to make them better equipt to live a good educated life after football. The the lucky ones get to play in the NFL after college and then get real jobs based, not only on their degree, but becasue of the connections in life they got in and around football... unlike the average person that never got to play college football... like everyone else.
62 posts all sorts of things. In fact, his post previous to the one in question is another Torre tweet about Ingram turning around the Hawthorne HS football program and now winning back to back state titles. A positive post by any measure. No secret agenda to fan flames of discontent, just sharing. I believe this was the start of the beef. I actually agree with him except the last sentence. I even had a post earlier calling out this thread start for being loser mentality. So, my "beef" is that just pretending there are no issues and everything is roses is just as harmful as all the negativity. You get what you tolerate, if everyone tolerates losing seasons, that's what you're going to get. I grew up around Cubs fans, I know what "wait til next year" gets you, more of the same.
If you’re talking about me, reading is optional, don’t open any of it, that’ll save you from having to constantly complain about it. I don’t post every negative thing I can find, far from it actually. I do post stuff that I find interesting and enlightening, good and bad. I do live in Realville though, and right now Florida football is a chit show. Everyone knows it too, the perception is reality.
I didn’t say that 62 was always negative, he just circulates everything. Zilla is definitely always negative, you can’t even argue that. My conversation with zilla is what started our dialogue. We would have likely taken a different path if you had quoted the post you really had a problem with. To each their own, man. My position is pretty clear. I believe our administration, our coaches, and our players want to win, and they want to win at the highest level. I don’t see how constantly denigrating everything they do is going to help them do their jobs. I constantly see our fans saying worse things about us than our most hated rivals, and continuing to circulate things that our rivals say about us. Neither me or you are going to fix any of these issues ourselves. The administration can see that we’re losing games, they don’t need us to tell them. They know we need to win, they know we need to recruit at a high level. These things aren’t secrets. Complaining on the internet isn’t really holding anyone accountable.
I never said you post every negative thing you can find, I said you repost everything. You post articles, videos, blogs, tweets from random nobody’s. Non stop. I like a lot of your posts. A lot of stuff you keep in circulation is negative though, and I don’t see the point in it. You’re allowed to post it. I’m allowed to comment on it. I don’t think I constantly complain about your posts. If you don’t like mine, you’re under no obligation to read them either though.
Who’s the one complaining here, on the internet, you are. I don’t give a rats azz what you do, have at it, fwiw. Random nobody’s hey. Former players, UF beat writers, UF analysts, etc. Huh..
Exactly, let zilla be zilla and 62 posts what 62 feels like posting. If they step over the line, the mods will handle it.
I don’t stop them from posting. They’re allowed to post, I am to. I’ve never seen you come to the defense of anyone who posted something positive and was swarmed by a bunch of negative nellies, but you come to the defense of people who constantly post negative stuff all the time. If people who post positive things are allowed to be criticized, people who post negative things are allowed to be criticized as well.
