IDK. I don't think we're greasy enough to do what needs to be done to win consistently in the new paradigm. I also don't think our boosters will foot the bill the way other school's do. In fact, I'd argue booster fatigue will be the thing that undoes this thing.

But what's he done? That would just be Mullen 2.0. Georgia just curb stomped him. Alabama beat them and held them to 10 points. Yeah, nice offensive coach. Won't recruit, won't beat the top teams and will leave your cupboard bare.

Wasn't ready ta accept this just yet but the way things seem to pan out it's starting to set in.
Georgia has the number 1 rated recruiting class again. Kirby was bringing those classes in from the beginning? We must play by different rules? I certainly don't understand it?

  4. Shane Matthews reminds his podcast listeners that Florida entered the "football school" sweepstakes rather late in the game. The folks who made the decisions to bring in Spurrier and Meyer as generational hires are gone or are hiding in the background refusing to change with the times. Florida can be a football school once again, but it needs to find the right guys--not just the Steve Spurriers and Urban Meyers of history, but also the Charley Pells and Ron Zooks. I think Billy Napier is our Charley Pell/ Ron Zook, hopefully without the NCAA sanctions or fighting in the locker room. What I mean is that Napier is cleaning up all the little things (maybe) that Mullen, McElwain, and Muschamp overlooked since Meyer left--arguably since the end of Meyer's tenure. Even if he winds up not being "the guy", if he fixes certain things it may make it easier for the next guy.

I agree with you! We are not a football power house. We have tasted football success with Spurrier and Meyers but outside of those years we are a middle of the pack program. We never won an SEC title before Spurrier. That is a long time for an SEC school never to win a SEC title. We had some great players in those years and I celebrated their play but the teams did not have great records as far as wins and losses. I am afraid our expectations have exceeded our means to get there.

Over 50 years after being a charter member of the SEC. Had some great teams before that but no hardware.

And the National Championship that year. Weird that we don't claim either of those. Bama or FSU certainly would.

No it took him 2 years to be "great" and win the SEC, which is generally the defacto National Championship game. UGa had the unfortunate luck to have to beat another SEC team in the NC game and came up 1 play short in OT. After that season there was never any doubt the UGa was going to win the NC eventually, Smart just had to buy and stack more talent to do so.

Could be true. The portal and recruiting that happens in the next few weeks will tell us all you need to know. The truly dedicated teams/ boosters will do what has to be done to win and the next group of teams will try to just make the playoff as a ceiling and the next group will just try to finish the season ranked. There’s a big difference.

Georgia steam rolled ole miss. It’s not the coaches, it’s the lopsided talent.

So you’re telling that us fans who spend our time and our hard earned money to watch this team, buy merchandise, donate etc should just accept mediocrity and have a “I’m just happy to be here” mentality?

Yeah F all of that. That’s an absolute loser mentality.

Btw in these 13 years we went to Atlanta 3 times, a NY6 bowl 4 times and had a Heisman trophy finalist so miss me with that we’re not a football school nonsense.

It’s called we have people in the Athletic Department that need to be held accountable. They made the choices to fire the 3 previous coaches that were actually doing something.

Do you think crying on a message board is holding them accountable?

Better than blaming the fans and saying our expectations are too high

You think all the negativity helps to correct the situation? You don’t think that has an overall negative impact on recruiting, and even with players currently on the team? Our “fans” attacking players, recruits, coaches, and admin all over the internet is a positive thing that’s going to help us?

You think the administration really needs you to tell them what the expectations are?

If everything you say is true, which it's not, then the first one on the firing block is SS for his lack of vision and sense of urgency as changes were happening all around him!
