Yep, keep the positive articles coming guys. This definitely isn’t a pattern we’ve been repeating for a decade. No way. BN is THE guy. Nothing says Florida coaching legend like losing to UK and Vandy in the same year.

Funny how some boil Napier's job down to one idea: "win championships". Or boil failure down to "lost to Vanderbilt."

Yes, this season has many data points and Vandy is one. McElwein went 10-2 in season 1 - so he was a great UF coach, right. Well, sometimes when you boil analysis down you fail to have perspective. You certainly are subject to making decisions based on inadequate information.

We will know much more about BN at the end of year 2 and will likely know all we need to know by the end of year 3. For the sake of this board's discussion, I will say I think we have the right guy from a culture/discipline/ground up building perspective - if he can hire/keep a great staff that fills the holes he has (we all have them). He is young and this may be an achilles heel if he is too stubborn? But we will only know after 3 years - during which people will prematurely condemn or anoint him. Right now, long term looks better than the Saturday product, which is ok by me after Mullen whose saturday product was always superior to the long term.

Many good points, however CBN isn't making the excuses listed. I choose to support him, and keep my powder dry until the time is right, if necessary. I don't think it will be necessary. Besides venting, is does no one any good to project how successful CBN will be basis this year and take that projection and make it a hard and fast opinion.
Even if we had Meyer or SOS, there would still be a ton of work to do before we can compete on a regular basis with Dawgs and Bama. So my feeling is let CBN build the culture, build the team and in 2-3 years we will have a better idea if he is "the guy"

And beating Utah and Texas A&M weren’t expected. Been a rough year for sure but comparing Billy to Kelly’s first year with an LSU team that’s 2 years off an NC and been lights out recruiting the 4 previous years, or anybody roughing up the pac 10 or what’s left of the Big 12 is disingenuous at best. Billy took over a depleted team with a 10 year history of mediocrity in the toughest division in college football. You’ve always been a credible poster Shane - you’re better than this

It's not about the X's &O's but about the Jimmies and Joe's and BN doesn't have all he needs to win every week. We've been down receivers every week and banged up elsewhere. Our QB has potential but he's inconsistent (don't blame the coaches for overthrows, skipped passes and failure to pull the ball and run) .He has all of the physical tools but needs to think and put it all together. Hopefully he realizes he's not ready for the no-fun-league.

I assume you realize that I posted with tongue firmly in cheek.

The point is: no one, but no one, on this board has expressed anything but understanding that it will take time before it will be seen what CBN can do.

I just get tired of all the virtue signalers and outside experts who try to boost themselves up by putting UF fans down while stating the most obvious and unoriginal thoughts.

Maggard's comments are just the latest example of it.

New coach. Tough-ass schedule this year. We suffered from inconsistent play; sans Georgia, we were in all of our games. Obviously the team wasn't up to the task of winning. All players need to be engaged and consistent. AR was suspect, defense was good. AR was good, defense was bad. AR was bad, defense was bad. AR was good defense was good. Inconsistency. Expected results under a complete and total rebuild. There are three games we should have won.

Great class coming in. Transfers going out. Portal will be used. It's all good!

Pissing and moaning won't make any losses feel better. The foundation is being built and the future looks good. I like our coaches. Love our players. Some studs coming in.

Teeth will be gnashing, goats will be faiting. Jet-pacs grounded. We could lose to FSU and our bowl opponent. Depends which team shows up. Either way help is on the way.

    It's great to-be a Florida Gator.

    Go Gators-win out!

    Happy Thanksgiving

how about Washington and TCU and their first year coaches and the great success they are enjoying. Washington doesn’t have near the talent of Florida and hasn’t been relevant forever. TCU- first year coach and he’s got them believing.
You can say what you want about their conferences but those coaches and their records….they deserve major props.
As far as Kelly goes I’d say LSU was in pretty bad shape. Kelly did some great portal work AND most importantly he hired excellent assistants. No one and I mean no one would have had them winning the West. The guy is just good. He took an average QB and paired him w a big time OC.

Couldn’t agree more on the portal. He really missed on the defensive side and a tight end would have been huge

Plenty have said that on this board. I’ve seen it become common place to say “ well it’s his first year”. You haven’t?

Yep, he will absolutely have to grab a big time TE from the portal.

Your last two sentences are illustrating my point when you talk about 2 to 3 years… I’m not saying Billy is making excuses I’m saying fans are. It doesn’t always have to take 2 to 3 years and saying it’s his first year as an excuse.
    Washington
    TCU
    LSU
    Notre Dame
All first year. Washington and TCU are NOT powerhouses. But first year coaches fixed them super quick.

Both Mullen and Mac appeared to fix us really quick.

Eventually the bottom fell out on both.

I'd prefer to see a foundation built here with a sustainable culture. This will prevent the flameouts that happened under the last 2 coaches.

Why do you think that’s what’s happening? Was the Vanderbilt loss part of this process?

This is like 1979, only with a .500 record. New system with old regime players, many who haven't bought in. You can only play the hand you're dealt.

In a way, the loss is part of the painful process that this program must go through in
order to transform. It's a broken program, one that has been largely irrelevant for a decade and a half.

Many here still think this is the same program it was in 2008 and just needs to be awakened by the right guy. That's just living in denial.

I'll add that Mac and Mullen put band aids on the problems and got lucky with weak schedules in their first two seasons.

When their lackadaisical recruiting and culture issues came into play, they fell apart.

I keep reading this sentiment and I dont agree. We have had several nice seasons in that span. Certainly a lot stronger than some of the competition that we lost to or had tight games against this season.

we need a lot stronger coaching. Not just more coaches.
