Would be interesting to compare that one and others.

Seems like even further back in history when faith was purportedly even deeper and wider, they were still scared of plagues, though people personally responded in different ways. Of course, many thought God was behind them, but I'm not sure that was a comforting thought either.

Reactions to Plague in the Ancient & Medieval World

The Italian writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio (l. 1313-1375 CE), author of The Decameron which recounts the tales of a group of ten trying to escape the plague by seclusion, describes in his introduction the main ways in which people reacted to the pestilence:

There were some people who thought that living moderately and avoiding any excess might help a great deal in resisting this disease, and so they gathered in small groups and lived entirely apart from everyone else. They shut themselves up in those houses where there were no sick people and where one could live well by eating the most delicate of foods and drinking the finest of wines, allowing no one to speak about or listen to anything said about the sick and dead outside…Others thought the opposite: they believed that drinking excessively, enjoying life, going about singing and celebrating, satisfying in every way the appetites as best one could, laughing, and making light of everything that happened was the best medicine for such a disease…Many others adopted a middle course between the two attitudes just described: They did not shut themselves up, but went around carrying in their hands flowers, or sweet-smelling herbs, or various kinds of spices and they would often put these things to their noses, believing that such smells were wonderful means of purifying the brain, for all the air seemed infected with the stench of dead bodies, sickness, and medicines. (7-8)

    ***

However people chose to react in their own lives, the communal response was a crisis of faith since it seemed God – who was thought to have sent the plague – refused to respond to any pleas to alleviate or end it. People blamed the devil for the outbreak as well as marginalized groups like the Jews – who lived apart from Christians in their own communities, were therefore not as susceptible to infection, and so were suspected of causing it – but, God was held chiefly responsible.

People saw the priests, physicians, and caregivers – who placed themselves in danger for the sake of others – dying daily and lost faith in a God who would take those he had seemingly chosen to help the most in the crisis. This turning from faith would eventually focus people on the human experience rather than the divine plan and would find expression in the Renaissance. Unlike the city of Athens after the plague centuries before, the world did not resume its former state but was transformed by survivors into something new.

This! It’s always happened, just hasn’t had the media coverage we’ve given it since Covid. I don’t think anyone here is saying there’s zero chance it was from the vaccine, but there’s just as much evidence that it was as there is it wasn’t, none. There no reason to assume it was.

The FOIA was for over 55,000 pages. The FDA said that they could supply 50 pages per month for 75 years. A court ruled that was unacceptable and gave them 6 months, regardless of how much of draw on resources it was to print out 55,000 pages.

I never read where anyone requested anything be hidden for 75 years.

This was a BS FOIA and the FDA attempted to thumb their nose at it. A judge ruled with the conspiracy idiots.

It's not really a conspiracy theory to observe that a vaccine that didn't go through the FDA approval process had negative long-term impacts on the population.

It's not necessarily an observation either.

Sorry man…but you really didn’t have to go there with the last paragraph. Not everything that medically happens is a vax issue.

Only Too Hot can turn this unfortunate incident into a political debate. The fact is no one knows for sure if Covid and/or the vaccine contributed to the cardiac arrest so just move on and wish the kid the very best.

Are you saying there have not been adverse medical reactions to the Covid vaccines?

Are you saying that the covid vaccines are responsible for 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the 2023 Canadian wild fires?

Don't be dumb. 9/11 was caused by Hunter Biden. Hurricane Katrina was caused by Antifa. Canadian wildfire was caused by transexuals.

Come on! Clearly Katrina was caused by the LGBT community in New Orleans. Canadian wildfires are due to the woke.

I see you're not looking for a debate, you just enjoy watching yourself be flippant.

That may be the case. But it's certainly not the case with the COVID vaccine. 3 phase trials just line every other drug and vaccine ever tested. Some get a 4th trial if necessary.

The reason why the COVID vaccine was approved so quickly was because results were fast tracked to the top, ahead of all other trials. Knocked off months of waiting for results. The vaccine was also approved for emergency use, months before full approval.

Like many conspiracy theories, they die when you look at the facts.

Yes, I'm sure it has nothing to do with lots of people have been injured by the vaccine.

I also thought we would be hearing a lot about KJ. (For some reason you are still the only one in the thread to mention him.)

Obviously, as Gators we are personally affected by this in a way a lot of other fanbases are not. Maybe the intense debate over the cause is an extension of this.

The hope for Bronny in this is that KJ did finally make the NBA, and I think he will have a great career.

Wow, this really became a rightwing thing ... Musk, Alex Jones, Hannity, Ingraham .... all trying to connect this to the vaccine with zero evidence?

Sudden cardiac arrest has unfortunately killed many teenagers. You'd usually hear once a year about a kid collapsing on the football field and this was prior to 2020

Outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest in US high schools: a 2-year prospective study from the National Registry for AED Use in Sports - PubMed

Abstract Background: Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in athletes during exercise. The effectiveness of school-based automated external defibrillator (AED) programmes has not been established through a prospective study.
