Every death is tragic. It is part of life. But there was absolutely zero reason to shut schools down based on the data. You know the data. The people who die from Covid are elderly. Yes there are going to be some in the working years that have comorbidities that make them more susceptible like the elderly with comorbidities. And they will need to make decisions accordingly. Regardless of profession. This is about your fear clearly. As you cannot think this out via the big picture. Deaths were going to happen. Most among the elderly. Most with comorbidities. If our health system focused on treating the disease instead of the event...covid would never have been as bad as it was. Well big pharma may disagree.

I understand you are okay with your kids peers dying earlier and having a lower quality of life. You are still controlled by fear. You need to let that go. Understand this disease could have been basically zero risk to you if you took measures to be healthy. And that we should never be so selfish to leave our kids in a worse position than us. And that is exactly what you continue to say was and is the right thing.

We will be judged. And those that support leaving our kids with less life years and less quality of life shall be judged the harshest. We need to make sure it never happens again.

While the probability of dying from Covid does increase with age, Covid deaths were by no means exclusively limited to the elderly.
From 2020 when the lockdowns were mandated.
Virus claims more young victims as deaths climb yet again
'Wrecked our lives': Families of 3 young adults who died from COVID-19 share heartbreaking stories
COVID-19 is a leading cause of death in children and young people in the US | University of Oxford
While the current variants of Covid are much less lethal than the original form of the infection or the Delta variant keep in that the lockdowns occurred in 2020 and while they should have been lifted much sooner they were not necessarily the wrong policy at the time.

Yes, I know the data. Which shows that schools were a big part of the spread of COVID when they were opened. And I posted the real-world results of such policies, which were a rise in COVID hospitalizations and deaths. And while the majority of the deaths were elderly, in the US alone, there were still over 1,600 pediatric COVID deaths, as well as over 275,000 Americans between 18-64. How many more deaths would be acceptable to you in order to keep schools opened? My answer, we had too many deaths from COVID as is.

And no, COVID was never going to be zero risk to me. I've been asthmatic my entire life. It's been mostly controlled my adult life, but always something I need to consider. COVID was never going to be zero risk to my older sibling too, who also has school aged kids. Had them later in life, second marriage, and he was plus 50 when the pandemic hit. How many more parents and other primary caregivers were in similar situations? Tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands? How do protect these people while COVID was raging through a school system?

I'm a huge proponent of education. Have a Masters degree myself, and have worked in both K-12 Education and currently work in Higher Education. But education can happen at any age, and kids who lost out during the pandemic will have ample chances to make up for it. Those that died during the pandemic? They are lost and gone forever. Again, how many more deaths, all ages, would be acceptable to you in order for kids to stay in school? Because had we followed your recommendations, I guarantee there would have been thousands upon thousands more people dead. And not just the elderly.

To drive the point home, there are nearly 21 million American adults with asthma. And nearly 2 million with Type I diabetes (genetic). These are COVID comorbidities that "healthy living" was never going to able to cure, because healthy living can't change genetics.

How do you protect these millions of Americans, especially if they have grade school age kids? Or the grandparents of the 3 million American kids who live with a grandparent as primary caregiver? Healthy living is never going to make people younger.

Getting back to the subject of this thread, it was my opinion from the very beginning that Bronny's cardiac arrest was the result of a congenital cardiac condition. Although I have no expertise on the subject there is a long history of athletes who have suffered cardiac arrest during practice or a game who were later discovered to have a congenital condition. The cause was latter confirmed by doctors who treated Bronny James. The only reason for the length of this thread is the obsession with certain anti-vaxxers that the Covid vaccine is a leading cause of cardiac arrest among young apparently healthy persons. While there is a link between myocarditis and the vax in males under the age of 35 with the vast majority of cases resolved within a few months to the best of my knowledge there are no credible studies linking the vax to sudden cardiac arrest.

This is the type of fear excuses that led to the idiotic decisions of the past three years. Instead of looking at the data. And making sound policy decisions (knowing nothing was going to stop people from dying) that cause the least harm…we screwed kids. Destroyed trust in medicine. And paid big pharma. A complete disaster.

The msm and public health pushed a false narrative with “studies/models” that were made to create fear. When the hard data was there. From Italy. The Diamond Princess. New York even. It really is criminal in lot of circumstances.

If you want to live in a bubble that is fine. But you will not destroy millions of lives again because in 2020 you decided you no longer could handle the fear of living life thanks to propaganda.

There is a reason you have not heard stories about kids and teachers dying in droves in the states who understood the damage we did. You may not get there. I don’t know. But you need to let go of your fear and live life.

The unvaccinated person you stood by the last three years. Is no more dangerous to you than the fully boosted person.

Stop supporting what damaged the lives of those with the least!!!!

Life is fine now. Fully vaccinated, along with the family. But back in 2020 and the first few months of 2021? I was at a higher risk due to genetics. My sibling because of age. Both of us had grade-school age kids. We weren't alone. Millions of Americans were in the same situation. How should we have proceeded? Risk our own health so your children can go to school? Risk the health of teachers and staff so you can be happy? I ask again, how many more dead was the number you are comfortable to have kept schools open? 100? 1,000? 10,000?

And more dead is not propaganda. It's facts supported by plenty of research and data collected by medical professionals and modelers who do this for a living. They are the experts with actual education and practical knowledge that you so easily dismiss because their facts don't fit your narrative. Again, if it weren't so pathetic, it would be hilarious.

No. I am two degree holder from UF BABA Specialization in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Engineering. I am quite capable of understanding how to ask questions when it comes to science. Being married to a doctor after graduating. I learned even more about the combination of art and science when it comes to medicine. There is no one right answer all the time.

I get you fell for the propaganda. But the red flags were easy to see on this one. That said…it was a doozy what they were able to do. They tricked a lot of people. Look. 17% of people took the updated booster. That is with advertising. That is with corporate medicine who can get paid if a they get to jab the patient instead of Publix and Walgreens. Be a part of the propagandized. Or use your critical thinking and look at the hard data. It does not mean we will get to the same spot. But good grief. The shot did not work (if it actually slowed spread or slowed it in a meaningful way…some things might be different but it did nothing of the sort). There were therapeutics we shelved for cost.

There is a reason the doctor in our family took one shot and not a second…

I notice not one lick of medical training in that whole rant. Lots of us have multiple degrees but don't claim to have medical training without medical degrees or any form of medical training. So your accusation to othera turned out to be four fingers pointed right back at you.

In addition, an industrial engineering degree is not science based. It’s logistics and processes. One of my brothers has the same degree. He’s a retired air traffic controller and would never think that he was qualified to give medical advice. LOL

ISE is one of the great Engineering Degrees. Funny how you frown on it. Literally the most versatile out there. Any industry. In fact. Healthcare has a huge demand for ISE!!!

It will be nice when those of you so obsessed with me actually focus on reality!

I highly recommend all of you ask your doctor why only 17% of the population and less than 50% of those over 65 have taken the updated booster. Regardless of your position on the shot.

    That’s just me!

You did...by proving you have no medical background, something you were trying to accuse others here of not having. It is hilarious how often you are hoisted by your own petard.
