I met him when I was a kid at an amusement park called Ghost Town in the Sky (sort of like Six Gun Territory) in Maggie Valley North Carolina.
When I was young, whenever an authority would ask does anyone have any questions. I would always ask. “Who played Wally in Leave it to Beaver?” Not a great actor but I never read anything bad about him.
It’s interesting what happens to child stars. I met, and had a great talk with Jay North (Dennis the Menace) at a car show at Sante Fe State College in Gainesville. He left California and is working at the Union Correctional Institute, living happily I believe as a youth counselor with his new wife.
One of my favorite shows as a kid. My childhood resembled that of Wally and the Beaver. Was fortunate.
I loved this show when I was a kid and watched it regularly. The iconic Cleavers were the quintessential American family back then. Tony Dow had limited success with his acting career, but was an accomplished sculptor.
It seems reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. 'Leave It to Beaver' star Tony Dow still alive, wife mistakenly 'believed' he was dead
Apparently in hospice and near the end. Tony Dow, 'Leave It to Beaver' star, is under hospice care in ‘last hours,’ son says | Fox News
Ward, don’t you think you’ve been a little hard on The Beaver lately? I saw an interview with Ron Howard some years back where he was extremely complimentary of Andy Griffith and how he handled the situation for Ron. He said that Andy would not demand too much of him and would basically let him play when he wasn’t in the scene. Griffith also cast Ron’s family members in bit roles so they could be on the set with him. Seems like things worked out well for Howard.
