When we began our journey after school in 2006…I had visions of creating a huge dental business. After we started our own Practice when buying another June 1, 2008…it took one month to realize that was not something I or my wife could envision building. The corporate concept has its place. But it is not one we wanted to entertain. I really do not view our peers on the independent side as competitors. But the corporate model of dentistry is a completely different industry to me. With that said…my wife Kayleen/Dr. Quinn (Medicine Woman) has taken a lot of CE on TMJ and Integrative Dentistry. And now there is a real question on the use of fluoride. I had made a few comments recently on the idea that OTC mouthwash may not be the best option. As it has no regard for killing the bacteria. Good or bad. She had emailed one of the experts who is not a Dentist but a biochemist and physiologist that spoke at the Integrative Dental Medicine Scholar Society meeting last year. Since then she has done more research on it. Today his response added to the reality we need to find ways to target the bad bacteria when most products struggle to not discriminate. Here is an interesting study on it as well. I would ask your Dentist their thoughts on the issue the next time you are in. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0020653923004550
LOL! Probably better to go for the anitbiotic over the vaccine in this particular case . But even there...we need to figure out how to target specific bacteria...
