This is a thought that was emanating in my mind this morning.

We have been through many very public crimes and subsequent criminal trials in this country in the past decade at least. Many people right after the events unfolded had a very confident opinion about what happened. They reacted in very emotional ways based on confidence in certain narratives. What we have seen time and time again is the narrative world and the real world are not the same thing. New facts often blow holes in our seemingly flawless narratives that make perfect sense of all the facts.

I say this as someone myself that is tempted in this way. It is very tempting to give into political narratives as events unfold. There can be all kinds of suspicions. I do not believe suspicions are necessarily wrong. I certainly have some suspicions, but we all do ourselves a favor when we wait on the facts to come out.

There has been an erosion in the public trust in our judicial institutions. So, that is going to color how this plays out IMO. Nonetheless, I think we all would do well to be slow to jump to conclusions about things.

There is tons of video out there already... enough to formulate a basic understanding of the SS failures that occurred.

What I want to know is do these news people always bring high speed cameras to these rallies? It's almost like they wanted to catch something that needed high speed cameras to see it. Like a speeding bullet. I wonder if that is normal gear for these types of events.

Can you imagine the disgusting images that camera would have caught if that shooter had hit trump's head? I'm sure "some people" know exactly what it would have caught.

The high speed camera was there for a reason... or not.

Or do exactly the opposite as the OP advises. Good one Rick.

Meh. You’re funny. OP is like “wait for more info before you jump into things”. Then you’re like “yea! But I bet the high speed cameras were in place to video a bullet speeding towards Trump.”

This is established fact. There was a security failure. Doing a deep dive into why is the question. We don’t know any answers. Unfortunately, the truth that sits at the bottom of that question coming to light has important implications on the November elections. I do not know if we’ll ever know the answer to that question.

Yes, and I am not even coming to a conclusion on this thread, but I do have more information to share. It's just one more thing that makes you wonder. I don't necessarily agree with the headlines/statement in the tweet.

That post loses credibility at "5 well aimed shots at Trump". I'd hate to see badly aimed shots look like.

The meaning of the word "well" is in the eye of the beholder... But you essentially dismiss the whole thing becasue of, "5 well aimed shots at Trump?"

It's not a conclusion... it's a fact that there were high speed cameras, or at last one high speed camera, there in the first place. Don't you find that odd?

One of those shots hit Trump in the ear, citygator. So you can dismiss that tweet, but I know the poster did ask the right questions... questions that we need answers to.

The fact the a single camera caught the bullet and by the way the resolution of the photo wasn't very high was pure dumb luck. It wasn't the result of advanced planning to photograph an possible assassination attempt. I would also venture to guess that if there was a photo of the bullet actually hitting Trump's head it would more likely end up on the cover of one of Trump's favorite publications like the National Enquirer or the New York Post rather than on an MSM publication like the New York Times of the Washington Post

According to an expert, that photo of an expert wasn’t of a billet but the vapor trail of the bullet that was present due to the high humidity

It's the news media that are calling it a high speed camera shot/pic. I'm sure you know more...

Perfectly timed pic... That really is dumb luck. Or not...

Probably more significant than how the snipers in the response team reacted to the shooter when he began firing was the failure of the Secret Service or local police to react to warnings from attendees at the rally. Conceding that it's anecdotal according one bystander the police and/or Secret Service were warned by attendees at least five minutes before the first shot was fired that the shooter was on top of the shed and appeared to be assuming a firing position.

Wow the USSS sniper made a 488 yard shot in seconds, that’s impressive to me.

a lot is incorrect here. The shooter was approximately 150 yards from the president. The USSS counter snipers were set up slightly closer than that and slightly further than that. The shooter was prone peeking over the crest of a gable roof with a tree partially obscuring him from one of the USSS teams. At 150 yds, wind was not affecting the bullet in any significant want and thus did not cause the miss. The miss was likely cause by some combination of:

    a) the shooter used a 2-4 moa milspec AR-15 weapon system
    b) the police that tried to get on the roof somewhat disrupted and rushed the shooter
    c) trump turned his head at just the right time

    it was likely 80% c and 20% a and b.

subsequent shots were missed because the shooter was not highly trained
