uf 1 ut 3, uf 2 ut 5, and uf 3 ut 7 all put uf in 3rd place.

After watching Tennessee pitch and play defense poorly and still beat FSU, looks like a 4th place finish is likely to me.

    CWS eliminations:

    Virginia on Sunday by FSU
NC State on Monday by UF

Both Virginia and NC State will get points for 7th place.

The worst UF can do is 5th place points. The Gators can eliminate the loser of the Kentucky vs. Texas A&M game tonight in the late game on Tuesday. Should the Gators advance after Tuesday night, the worst UF can do is 3rd place points.

Tennessee is the wildcard for UF insofar as the Learfield Director's Cup is concerned. If the Gators don't finish 2 spots ahead of the vols in the CWS, the Gators can win the national championship and still not move up in the final up rankings, 4th place finish, see post #41.

4th place is still great considering where we stood after the winter sports. I think we were in 12th at that point.

I'm okay with 4th place and winning the CWS. ;)

First time in a long time we weren't the top SEC school.

It's been coming for a while as they have taken over the SEC all sports trophy from UF.

Not true - Tennessee has won the all sports trophy for 3 straight years.

Now, we need football and basketball to meaningfully contribute plus add beach volleyball.

    Lots to be happy with:

40 - consecutive seasons in the top 10, the only school to do this.
    15 - consecutive top 5 finishes

    Top 10:

    2023-24 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings
    Rank
    School Points
    1. Texas 1377.00
    2. Stanford 1317.75
    3. Tennessee 1217.00
    4. FLORIDA 1189.00
    5. Virginia 1066.25
    6. Texas A&M 1059.25
    7. North Carolina 1035.75
    8. Michigan 1030.00
    9. Alabama 1028.40
    10. UCLA 1017.50

    4 - SEC
    2 - ACC
    2 - PAC 12
    1 - B1G
    1 - Big 12

I particularly like that Texas overcame Stanford to win the top spot.

Your best bet is to do a deep dive on floridagators.com. In some of their past stories, they have documented the year and place finish going back further than 1993.

Beginning around 1983, they began the “All Sports Trophy”, which Learfield picked up in 1993.

    Found this on floridagators.com

    2003.pdf

See page 2 left hand column which shows where UF final ranked dating back to the 1983/84 academic year.

UF is the only program to have never been out of the final top 10.
