17 hours ago. Back in Gainesville. Still talking to other coaches, but, I think he actually gave a legitimate reason... build relationships with as many coaches as possible before signing day because you never know where those coaches will be next. Also, the teams he's still talking to aren't exactly on the top of their games either. Maybe I'm a sucker, but, this actually makes me feel better about him sticking.
There is but one reason to continue talking with other schools, and it's not because the player might end up playing for a coach in five to 10 years at the NFL level. Actions speak louder than words. I'm not optimistic. At this stage of BN's process, I would not blame any player for not signing with us.
No it's because a player might end up playing for another coach in college. But not next year. But if offers start coming in for players that they can't refuse then...
That would definitely be a kick in the nuts if he flipped on signing day. After today I guess anything can happen.
Lagway is not going anywhere. This kid is different, he’s not going to flip last minute. He is 100% Gator, and I’m by nature pessimistic when it comes to 18 year old kids’ decisions.
I agree. But I bet we see a few shocking flips around the country because of crazy offers from desperate teams.
Yes, and we need another Percy Harvin, Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey, etc. But, UF was not the same team without Harvin!!!
Harvin was the most talented player I've ever seen wear a Gator uniform. And the team was no the same without him. He was a walking first down. That said, Tebow was the most impactful player, from a program sense, that I've ever seen. His leadership and intangibles were second to none...at any school. I know it is a high bar, but I hope DJ is not only the on the field talent that we need, but the off the field leader to help turn this mess around. Because it sure is painful to watch.
As we know, what set Tim apart was his fire on and off the field. Weight room maniac leader who had to be told to dial back the lifting. Netflix showed some of the madness.
My QB rank: Danny Tim Kyle - and Kyle had the greatest passing season "statistically" in UF history his last year. A season ruined by Grantham. Of course its just a subjective judgement. Tim was special. But when it came to slingin and not runnin, I give the nod to Mr. "W".
