Maybe I’m wrong but why are we lacking local gator radio coverage day to day? I live near Clemson and they have local radio From 6 am-7pm. I also pick up some Athens stations (yuck) and they also have all day local radio. As far as I can tell we only get local radio in the afternoon or am I wrong?
I misunderstood your question. As far as I know the only gator coverage available on a daily basis is in the afternoon on WRUF.
I stream 1010xl, the local station in Jax. The shows and segments are on-demand, and they have no commercials! Very Convenient. My only problem, not much to talk about the Gator Football Program, I actually don’t even want to think about it lol
Consolidation of radio started with deregulation in 80s and 90s. It affects the media we consume big time. Same songs over and over. Same political views over and over. Same sports over and over. It’s sad what’s happened to Gainesville radio. It used to be you had 3 competing sports stations/ 1430,1230 and 850 with 8-10 AM, midday and afternoon LOCAL shows that took callers and had varied opinions, now it’s basically Steve Russell being annoyed and Cordozzo painting a rosy picture of gator football while he waits for baseball season to roll around. They could at LEAST let sone students do a morning show, let some other energetic locals have a crack at some shows but they don’t. It sucks
More like sn evolution from radio. Most sports jocks know very little or are subpar. Dave Waters has a gators podcast https://youtube.com/@GatorsBreakdown Stadium and Gale Locked on Gators daily podcast there are others
Totally agree about podcasting. It’s way better. Gator nation, gators breakdown, stadium and Gale all use deep dives and stats. That locked on kid is awful though. He sounds like a nervous 14 year old. He just repeats himself and gets super cringey
hell I’m in South Carolina.. can you please point me to some Gamecock stations? The Clemson fanboy media is sickening.
Podcasts are really solid but some, like Gators Breakdown, aren’t daily. Like another poster Miss the daily locals. Let a new voice do something locally daily for an hour a day.
No doubt it's a dying medium, largely giving way to podcasts. There's good Gator content out there that others have posted here.
