In Golden's post game presser, numerous questions about Aberdeen, but not a single one about Kugel. I can understand that perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea to share that he wouldn't play before or even during the game, but I don't get having a press conference where only softballs are thrown. Some sideline reporters do an effective job during the game, but Marty Smith chasing around a unicycle is all about style over substance.
I think the answer is this board likes Kugel due to last year. The press and TG are focused on this year. Kugel is clearly a deep bench rotation guy with minutes depending on matchup. Maybe that’s not what we remember want, but that’s what he is right now.
was told DA was playing so well that TG and the staff figured lets roll with the hot hand and maybe have some fresh legs today with Riley coming off the bench also. It might make a big difference today with at least one player with fresh legs.
I'm glad it worked out, but when we were down 40-22, there weren't many hot hands, nor was anyone thinking about fresh legs for Sunday.
I don't believe players are beyond criticism but people need to knock it off with the disparaging remarks about Kugel. And yet, someone had the audacity to write a pretty crappy thing after this pic was posted. You have nothing invested in the team compared to this kid. Grow up. Be better.
DA was the first guard off the bench, he was playing well even when it was 40-22..so why bring in Kugel at that point? You cant even imagine nor can I what the coaches are thinking about at half time or during the games. But I know for sure Richard and DA were shooting well and Kugel was not going to take minutes from Clayton nor ZP so I bet there was some thought of fresh legs for Sunday at that point.
Trust the coaches. I'm pulling for RK. An important piece to the team. A big contributor. As mentioned here and proven with pics he sure looked 100% invested in the contest and was showing nothing but enthusiastic support for the team. I hope he has a great game today.
probably old news this deep into the season to ask about a guy who hasn’t started in months and plays up and down minutes from the bench.
No news makes me wonder if this is a parent or agent keeping him out. We could sure use him after playing now 4 games in 4 days.
Riley was hit hard, emotionally by the Micah injury. Wonder if this could be he wants to help the team but outside characters are holding him out.
Probably going to transfer, "does everything in 2s" Sad thought he could be special on this special team. Of course we get an injury right before the NCAA tournament. Denzel has surprised, looking forward to him next year
He must be in Coach TG’s doghouse for some reason. I’m guessing it has something to do with the intensity in which he practices or maybe his attitude in the locker room. I hope he doesn’t, but I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if he transferred out through the portal after this season.
Kugel didn't even make the floor when TG cleared the bench at the end today. That may not too telling, TG could have just wanted those other players to get a chance to play. But I do think its a sign Kugel wasn't seeing the floor if TG could help it.
