Bird dogs are not trained to kill birds. Depending on the type of dog, they are trained to find birds, flush birds, or retrieve birds after the hunter has shot it. They are taught to have a “soft mouth,” meaning that they do not damage the meat while carrying the bird back to the hunter.

Phat---that's exactly right on the training of bird dogs.

Most bird dogs I have been around have been super sweet...just great companions. All the English Setters I have owned have loved to hunt hard, but are super sweet/human loving animals. Great dispositions/great with kids. In my experience, pretty rare for a bird dog to be mean, unless it has had very little contact with humans other than its handler, and/or lives in a pen when not hunted. Some of the quail preserves have these types of dogs...and alot of them not really purebred Setters, Pointers (real ones) or Brittany's--but rather a smallish spaniel mix type. I'm assuming Noem's was a wired hair pointing griffon. Not real familiar with those.

JMO, Noem's dog may have been real bad--but there had to be other solutions. Without knowing the whole story, personally, I would use a trainer or try to give it to someone else (single person on a farm perhaps with no children??). My experience has taught me that when a dog is bad, 90%± of the time its b/c the owner didn't do enough discipline/training when it was young. On a slightly different note, we one time had a male cat that was so mean and unpredictable, even after neutering, that we gave it to a farmer where it could live a more solitary life chasing mice, hunting, etc.... We got reports that it was very happy and lived a great life. I agree one shouldn't keep an animal that is a threat to the safety of your family, but since you took it on as a pet, its your responsibility to do all you can to fix the issue or find another solutions. Pets don't comprehend and think as humans and you have to account for that and give YOUR pet extreme consideration.

Killing the goat, if the story is indeed true, sounds like she didn't have control of her emotions ATM (just after killing dog). Whose fault was it that the goat wasn't neutered???? I have no idea about goats and whether it can't be neutered due to the role you want it to perform, but you chose to have an unneutered goat. Again, other solutions had to exist. Just a bad look and really not wise to include in your book if you have political aspirations. Most sportsmen/women I know would not like what she did. Sounds like she misread her audience in this instance.

Her video needs a correction. Removing the gray wolf from the endangered species list does not automatically mean they can be hunted to extinction. It merely returns management of wolves to the states.

I can’t imagine any state wildlife department today intentionally allowing hunting any species to extinction.

It’s interesting that four Republicans voted against the Bill and for Democrats voted for it.

Yet, you are okay voting for pants crapping, mentally challenged Biden, that is NOT even making decisions on his own? The feigned outrage about this woman is silly and obvious.

You clearly know a lot about hunting dogs! Over the years I’ve had two Brittanys. They were both superb hunting dogs, trained by my brother. We also had a black lab who was an idiot Savant. :D

Regarding the goat, I’ve never owned one, although once a friend brought her goats over to eat the poison ivy along our fence line. The question about Noem’s goat is did she leave it at the quarry to be eaten by coyotes, or did she take it home and barbecue it? I seem to recall Pres and Ed’s joint in Gainesville had some good barbecue goat when I was at UF. :)

It's kind of interesting of how Noem's description of Cricket evolved over the past week from a dog that difficult to train as a bird dog and may have killed a couple of her neighbor's chickens into a vicious animal that implicitly couldn't be trained and had to be put down.

Another week and she will have killed the dog to save mankind from Cricket's descendents multiplying into a breed of merciless child eating dogs bent on world domination.

Her story which I assume she thought would reflect well on her makes her look like an idiot.
    1. caint train a dog or get someone competent to do it.
    2. had no clue - or didn't care - that it was not ready for a hunt
    3. let a dog that just misbehaved on a hunt & that was jacked up from the hunt be around chickens (every hunting dog on both sides my family woulda insta tried to kill chickens)
    4. kills dog due to her incompetence & lack of patience

Yeah, sounds like a real farm girl. 90% of "farmers" & "ranchers" out west are just mooching off BIG GOV while cosplaying

Biden has passed significant legislation including the American Rescue plan, a bipartisan infrastructure bill, the first major gun safety bill in decades, the CHIPS act to bring semi-conductor manufacturing to the US, the inflation reduction act that fights climate change, and supports major health care reform; with the UE rate at historic lows and markets at historic highs. Globally, a strengthened NATO alliance that supports Ukraine over Russia, and an historic trilateral agreement with Japan and So. Korea to confront China as allies.

Seems a bit more impressive than killing a dog in anger and lying about meeting world leaders.

Yeah, I'm sure "HE" passed significant legislation.

The CHIPS act was stalled, did that get that worked out? I read in an article that the DEI demands in the contract was a poison pill, was a NO-GO for the Taiwanese. Having the money and having a contract to build these plants are not the same thing.

It seems like both Korea and the Taiwanese are stalling production on the CHIP plants. For reasons not specified. I suppose the "strings" were DEI BS that the Biden administration put into the contracts.

But TSMC has balked at some of the strings attached by Washington to the proposed funding, which include a requirement to share profits from the factories as well as detailed information about its operations.

Largest US semiconductor maker snags $1.5B from stalled Chips Act for plants in NY, Vermont

It was signed into law by Biden in August 2022 and to note it was a bipartisan effort, helping supply chain and to compete against China. I haven't heard that it stalled out - not sure what you mean - do you have a report?

I like the CHIPs act, but to pretend that Biden was the driving force to create this is just laughable.

Like any major piece of legislation, many people worked to bring it forward, on both sides for the good of the country. That used to be a good thing in the country. What major legislation did Trump sign over 4 years?

Getting back to the legislation. I think you're right both sides played a part in this and it was long past due. This is an excellent bipartisan piece of legislation that we need more of. Now if we can do this for medicines and vaccines... make more of them here in the U.S.A..

There was his budget busting tax cut and perhaps his most significant accomplishment, the Covid vax from Operation Warp Speed is despised by his own supporters.
