I expect them to go after Dan McConnell from Louisville. Dan used to coach at the Citadel back in the day.

That also means that Ethan Petry might transfer. He went to Cypress Creek HS.....

I'd have to think the NIL era may produce some unexpected moves on the carousel. May have some coaches who appear to be in good situations, but internally might have a fear of getting left behind.

They think they have a shot at Sully...think he is tired of Florida and ready for a change. Kendall Rogers thinks they have a good shot atxa big fish....they always bring up Sully every time. Crazy.

It won't be Sully. However, if for some strange it was, we would respond with an even bigger 'fish'.

Let's hope we start hearing Petry rumors soon. If he has interest in Florida then we know there's no chance of Sully going there.

I’ll worry about Sully leaving when he actually does it. He’s mentioned in every coaching search for every big baseball program.

Yeah it's hard for me to think he would leave with the setup he's been given with the best college stadium in Florida, a growing fan base, on going talent pool in the state, and his kids have grown up here. Now if we can just figure out the NIL thing...

The chances of Sully going to SC are lilely nil and zero.

How long was he at Clemson? What school likely despises SC more than any other?

Its interesting that the roster page on the Gamecocks website has been unavailable. I was looking for all the other Florida HS guys they have. Looks like they are shutting things down until they get an idea where they are at with the players.

The personal 'stuff' has been resolved compared to 7 years ago when this came up the first time.

Top players in my opinion would be Ethan P and Eli J who will be coming back from Tommy John.

    2. Dan McDonnell- Louisville

    That’s the 2 I’ve heard the most.

Oh .. Monte Lee the hitting coach who was at SC when Tanner was coach. He was fired at Clemson 2 years ago, because he couldn’t get the job done. Will Muschamp part 2 , but this time baseball.

The Kingston episode puts the lie to a trite assertion like "almost no one is irreplaceable" applied to top college baseball coaches. I envied Ray Tanner's success. I had hope that his moving up to AD couldn't hurt, but I guessed that the championship program he developed could be carried on when SC attracted a good new coach. They had such good momentem and Tanner surely would make a careful choice. Years later, SC still is one of the better programs in the country and battles in the middle/lower middle of the SEC, which means it's in the top 10-15% of college baseball. It's about the level of the Gators in the pre-Sully days. There was room to argue during the regular season that this was Sully's worst team. As he heads to his 10th Super Regional, it seems more accurate to say it was his most chaotic team, but still very good.

As far as SC is concerned, Tanner WAS irreplaceable.

Raines had Carolina twice a game away from a national title in 70’s. Had some CWS teams in 80’s as well. However early 90’s they fell down a notch. Tanner came in and built some great teams. Lots of those were from JUCO ranks. They cleaned up with JUCO players.
