I'm surprised it took 4 1/2 weeks to get this order handed down by Trump:

President Trump Calls for Revival of Keystone XL Pipeline Project – ‘Get It Built’

President Donald Trump has called on the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline to return to America and finish the project. And he's promising a fast-track process to get the job done.

Trump, who made a return to American energy independence a cornerstone of his presidential campaign, took to Truth Social and called on the company involved in the pipeline — TC Energy Corporation — to "get it built."

"Our Country’s doing really well, and today, I was just thinking, that the company building the Keystone XL Pipeline that was viciously jettisoned by the incompetent Biden Administration should come back to America, and get it built — NOW!" he wrote.

Trump suggested that if TC Energy Corp. does not want to take on the project's revival, he would be open to another stepping in. "We want the Keystone XL Pipeline built!" he emphasized.

So Trump wants a Canadian country to continue building the pipeline to pump tar sand from Canada, so the United States won’t be reliant on foreign oil after Trump slapped tariffs on Canada after threatening to make it part of the United States? It’s time for someone to take away Trump’s car keys because there is so much that’s weird about that.

Hasn't this been effectively considered scuttled for close to a decade?

I guess the Trump just needed a political football to kick around that might resonate with his base. Too bad he's not actually tying to do anything constructive for the people of the United States, and focusing instead on Elon Musk and Vladimir Putin.

Caveat; I guess he "owned da libz" tho. Big win.

So will that 25% tariff apply to canadian petroleum products? What US refinery will sign up for that?

Considering that the primary purpose of the Keystone XL is to transport crude from Alberta will Trump be imposing his tariff on the crude and will the Canadians even bother to import it with the tariff? In fact, the Keystone XL itself is a Canadian project. Will Trump still allow the pipeline to be built with Canadian steel or other foreign steel as he did during his first administration? Will the foreign steel be subject to the 25% tariff?
Keystone XL builders can use non-U.S. steel, White House says now

The idiocy never ends. Companies don't even care about building it anymore but President Dumbshit is going to force them so he can milk an 8-year-old, dead issue that only appeals to the most brain dead in his fanbase. So stupid. So MAGA!

Keep hurling those insults drunken tailgate!

    An article on the subject:
Trump says he wants Keystone XL pipeline built 'NOW.' How likely is that? | CBC News
Last month, Trump rescinded a Biden-era executive order revoking a permit for the project, Bloomberg News reported, in theory opening the door for the project to be resuscitated.

South Bow, the company that TC Energy spun off to handle its pipeline business, has said it's no longer interested.
"We've moved on from the Keystone XL project," said spokesperson Katie Stavinoha in a statement.

While there still is the possibility of reviving the pipeline a lot of pieces would have to fall in place.

Interestingly, at least one Canadian politician who supports the pipeline has suggested a quid pro quo with resurrection of the pipeline as part of a deal that would include rescission of the Trump tariffs.
On X, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith struck an enthusiastic tone about Trump's pitch, saying she agreed the project shouldn't have been scrapped in the first place. "Let's also scrap these inflationary tariff ideas and focus on getting shovels in the ground right away!" she wrote.

Imagine the possibilities of building out huge infrastructure for years that nobody wants or expects.

I saw where Saudi Arabia is going to increase production. Something they do periodically to drive out competition. Who the hell is going to build that pipeline if the price of crude is going to go down? Same goes for drill baby drill. They won't do it if there is not a good return on their investment in spite of what the orange god says.
