i think you are wrong on a couple presumptions. Key loved his time here… but he would be returning to a team with a new coach, new staff and a roster on which he really hadn’t played with anyone. In addition, he was dealing with some stuff locally.
Also- there is probably some ptsd kinda feelings for he and the fans regarding what happened. It might have been a good time for a fresh start. And I think Key embraced that.
Also- being cleared medically is not a catch-all for every school. They conduct their own due diligence and make their own decisions.
I respect your take, as part of me would love to be watching him in Gainesville. But I will root like hell for him wherever he plays.

In the event something happens again I think the optics would look particularly bad for Florida had he stayed. Not that "optics" are the main concern but I believe it had at least something to do with it. As much as I hate to see him in another jersey and now have to only wonder what he could have done here this year I completely understand it. Glad he is doing well and I hope he reaches his full potential. I miss watching him play for us though.

I’d love to have Key back here. Last night I found myself thinking in the first half, that deficit doesn’t happen if he was on the floor.

All that said, I agree with antny1, moving on may have been the best for him.

I’ll be rooting for him, and following KSU all season.

UF did the same thing with Scot Brantley in 1979 and considering Brantley's long term issues with Brain injury, they were probably right to do so or perhaps He made a poor decision to play in the NFL. It didn't surprise me in the least when UF chose not to clear Key.

Agreed, when it went quiet, unannounced was when I began to think he would never see the court again as a UF starter or player.

Dude is putting up big numbers, and is about to lead his team to a road win over #6 Texas. Wildcats are 13-1. Sure wish he was still wearing Orange and Blue.

He probably gets to rest for the last ten minutes a game so I’ll say 20-8.
