… maybe entering the portal. I have mixed feelings here… would hate to see him leave, nervous for his health, but thrilled to see him on the court.
Wow. Surprising. I had him as taking the insurance payout and moving on without playing. Hard to give up playing...
Scared we will see a Reggie Lewis tragedy. If he wants a fresh start with White leaving and the allegation against him I get it, but when you look at the list of med centers that analyzed his case, to go against that is just dangerous. Of course there could have been more recent info we don’t know about, but it’s still scary if he intends to play.
It is his prerogative. The real question is, who is going to give him a full chance without taking a HUGE risk of getting sued by the family if he dies playing basketball? He needs to go to the pros and sign a non-fault contract to play. Otherwise, he needs to continue with his Plan B plans (coaching or other).
If not, would any school give him an opportunity? If he insists on playing, shouldn't he try going pro, perhaps in the G League?
I know he badly wants to play again, and who wouldn't? But the U of F is right in not letting him play for the Gators.
The day he plays for another college team his insurance policy is null and void, and they won’t issue another. He is gambling on himself for love if the game and the opportunity to make a lot more if successful. If they have not found anything since in medical testing, perhaps it is worth the risk? USC had a football player they would not let play that transferred to UGA and played well and was later drafted into the NFL. UF would not let Chase Johnson play basketball and he transferred to play elsewhere. Turned out UF was correct in that decision
Other than the rumor that Brent noted, I haven’t seen anything from KJ to the effect that he is entering the portal. He does seem close to White plus his reputation in Gainesville has now been tainted. We will see.
Good points regarding reputation. I wonder if a medical ship can be pulled by the university for misconduct?
What are you referencing here? I have not seen or heard of any such list or any diagnosis… only conjecture and speculation. All I know for certain is what I saw on TV. He fainted on the court and hit his head. Without any further confirmation of a more serious condition, I don’t see what’s to be scared about.
And yet UF cleared Neiron Ball for a life threatening condition and ended up costing him his life. We won't be 100% sure Johnson will have long term effects 10 years from now.
I have seen no credible reports that state this. By all means, if you have more detail please share the links.
Are you implying that because they cleared him to play in 2011 that UF shares blame for his death in 2018? These things are not lifetime passes or guarantees.
