What you saw today from Kentucky is what Napier wants us to be. Tough, blue collar, consistent. But they will never win any championships in conference or out. Is this what we want to be?
The real question there is who is the "we"? Safe to say obviously, no, that's not who the fanbase wants to be. But is the administration perfectly fine with being a top 5 public university and a mediocre football program? That's the question you should now ponder in 2023.
Who says? How many Gator fans said Kentucky wouldn't be 5-0 right now before the season started? If they beat Georgia, they win the East and play for a chance in the CFP. Keep in mind, this is Kentucky. What Stoops is doing at Kentucky very few coaches could have done. Smart couldn't do it and Saban wouldn't want to do it. The surprising thing about Stoops is no one expected Kentucky to be good this year because they lost so many players. Yet, they are 5-0.
The dumbest thing I’ve heard is talking about Kentucky as if they are losers when they just curbstomped us to extend their winning streak to 3 in a row. Stop living in the past.
Didn't say anything about KY being losers...read posts carefully. I said Napier wants to be more like KY and that will not win championships.
I agree with your post, actually. I didn't think you were referring to Kentucky as losers. They have actually made huge strides since Stoops took over. But yes, they will never have the talent to win championships. We, on the other hand, do the capability to get the talent to win championships, we just have to stop pissing it away.
I’ve been saying this for years now. The UF brass wants to be the “Harvard of the South.” They’re also happy with the athletic department as it is. Technically it is one of the top five most successful athletic departments in the nation, but not at the sport which brings in the majority of revenue.
On whether the team’s physicality compared to Kentucky… “Anybody that knows me, knows that that game right there is going to be hard on me. Just in terms of who I want to be. The brand of football that I want to play. So, I think you’re exactly right. And look, I respect it. I respect it. I think you’re spot on.”
