Great horse! " At age three, Secretariat not only won the Triple Crown, but he also set speed records in all three races. His time in the Kentucky Derby still stands as the Churchill Downs track record for 1+1⁄4 miles, and his time in the Belmont Stakes stands as the American record for 1+1⁄2 miles on the dirt. In 2012, his actual time of 1:53 in the Preakness Stakes was recognized as a stakes record after an official review."
The wife and I went by Ocala Bets and made some bets on the derby today. It always adds a little to it for us to have some horses bet. That place hads a crowd there today of course.
Quite literally: "As a stud , he sired over 600 foals , many of which went on to become successful racehorses themselves . It is estimated that Secretariat earned over $ 190 million in stud fees , making him one of the most successful stallions in history" How much money did Secretariat make as a stud? - Quora.
Drove from Gainesville to Tampa with a bunch of guys, checked into a hotel, watched Secretariat win the Derby on TV, then went to the old Sombrero and saw Led Zeppelin in concert. Quite a weekend
Would have loved to see Zeppelin back in the day. I did get to see Plant and Page individually in the late 80s. Not a big gambler, but I did bet $25 on Mystic Dan yesterday for a payout of $450. Still fails in comparison to my wife's winning with Country House of $1100 back in 2019, but my first win, so it was an excite Derby!
Secretariat was to Sham what Florida was to Ohio State. If Secretariat doesn't run, Sham wins the Derby and Preakness. If UF isn't in those 2 games, OSU wins football and basketball natties in 2008
