He (Harrison) didn't really elaborate on what the 'diabolical lies' were that he was referring to. He congratulates them on their accomplishments, then segways into how fulfilling his wife finds the vocation of homemaker to be. Hence I reconcile these by inferring that the lie isn't that career is good, but rather that homemaker is somehow bad (or unfulfilling, or undignified).

As for @LimeyGator says what it says; I'm thinking he didn't mean it, and perhaps the clarification lies in what he understood Harrison actually said. In either case, I replied to him, as an open invitation for him to clarify if he deems it appropriate.

 

Yeah, but you have to listen to appreciate the opening joke because it relies on the homophones nun and none, so it won't have the same impact when written.

....continuing to your latter points--from my experience, women want to establish independence through education--but the vast majority of the women I know, and have known--find married life, and mom life, far more fulfilling than career.

But having a career to fall back on, is undisputably, a good thing.

Fwiw, this is not misogynistic. I have a law degree, a degree from UF, a profession, my own business/law practice...

...and I define myself first as Christian, then as husband, then as father, then as lawyer...

Bc the dignity of my vocation as husband and father, far supercedes my vocation as lawyer.

...and--again, from my experience--it works the same for women (with the exception that me being a homemaker as a man, would be wholly unfulfilling, bc im a man, and not carrying the babies means id feel like a parasite to stay at home. Moms earn their keep by birthing the babies--everything they do beyond that is gravy).

Again, jmho--and I'd point out that Harrison caveats with "I'd venture a guess" before he goes into the homemaker speil.

When you listen to him deliver this portion. There is not a single bit of controversy. This is made up nonsense by those on the left and those against the Church.

What you should not do is read a quote that is a few words from a sentence. Or even a sentence. And then insinuate or assume a false narrative.

 

I'm not sure how its 'made up' when people are just talking about what he said in a recorded speech and accurately quoting him.
